Liquid soap leaks - why?

Does anyone else suffer from the slow oooozing of liquid hand wash soap from the bottle?

I've used these liquid soaps for years in houses without issue, but since living on a boat for some years - they all seem to slowly dispense by themselves all over the worktop of bathroom sink.

It may be changes in temperature, although I do try and keep it fairly constant for the dog.

Could it be atmospheric pressure changes are more pronounced in a boat than a brick house?

 

or is it just me.......

Mine does this too, if the sun shines on it. I solve it by loosening the screw top a little. Maybe it’s the air left inside, on top of the soap, expanding, so forcing the liquid out of the spout!

Ours does the same when we leave the boat, we dont live aboard, now we just unscrew the cap when we leave

It will likely be increase in temperature causing increase of pressure within the bottle, atmospheric pressure is the same inside or outside so wont be an issue.

After 12 years living aboard I can't say I've ever noticed this phenomenon...

Happens all the time when we are away from the boat. Not when we are using the hand dispensers regularly.

 

Unscrew the top when you are leaving the boat.

This happens to us, I often wondered why and the temperature thing seems blindingly obvious now that its been pointed out... Perhaps an experiment is in order...

Doesn't leak - but don't inadvertently move something under its nozzle - you get a lovely soap blob on it!

Just make a small hole near the neck of the bottle with the tip of a knife, works for me.
