I would like to point out that the implementation of the member map on a users profile is completely useless! You can't scroll or zoom it, a blue dot on a grey background is a waste of pixels

Indeed, your not wrong, I have made the same comment only today on a site that has started using member map after I suggested it to them, and did wonder if was the same on our own map.

 

I if you look at mine, its sort of shows more, but is also far to far in, not least given I only put in my town, so the roads shown are not even the ones near my house!

It would be better if the map manipulation controls were available

 

It would be better still if it used Google maps instead so it linked to my Android phone software

It did used to use googlemaps, until google maps changed the api and the bing version was part way through development,.... apparently.
