kevinl
I thought that stretch was fully piled with some heavy duty stuff. "has been affected by historic mining subsidence" so it seems, but wait til they start the fracking trials about 2 miles away then you'll see some subsidence. plainsman
I'd be interested to know how to access the Bridgewater closure info. I use this web page http://www.bridgewatercanal.co.uk/operating.php but can't see the stoppage referred to.

K That's just silly. Fracking doesn't cause subsidence. It's earthquakes (apparently!) mtB

gaggle
So we know that Fracking will not disturb old mine workings? Why do they use the desscription "fracking" and not fractureing ? Is that not what they do fracture the rock formation to allow them to force gas out easier , seems they avoid using the fracture word if at all possible. The proper term is 'Hydraulic fracturing' and 'Fracking' is just a slang term for it, I guess born out of laziness, particularly amongst journalists.
