NB Alton
Hi Tim, My favourite pub when tied up at Etruria is the Coachmakers Arms nr Hanley Bus Station, about 20mins walk, a friendly, quirky, proper traditional pub, with pretty good beer. Alternatively & nearer is the Holy Inadequate which is by the junction of A53 & Etruscan St, I haven't tried it in its current guise but I hear good reports of a big selection of real ales. Hope that helps. Cheers, Brian
stagedamager
I Like The Unicorn, opposite The Regent Theatre, low ceilings, good beer, good atmosphere. Dan
bizzard
The only one i know is ''The China garden'' about 3/4 mile above Stoke top lock, next to the marina. 18 years since i went through there so it may have gone.
Icemaiden
Anybody know a decent pub near Etruria ? Tim I'd second the Coachmakers in Hanley, on Lichfield St. ST1 3EA. It's about 15 minutes' walk from the Black Prince yard, less if you're moored on the Caldon (more if you've got short legs). It's been under threat of closure for some time, as the council wanted to move the road to where the pub is, but it's still in the current GBG & is well worth a visit. Fantastic real ales, but not a foody pub.
Tim Lewis
Thanks for the recommendations, am in the Holy Inafequate which is excellent with nine handpumps!
jeanb
The China Garden, adjacent to the marina (handy) is now a Toby Carvery (reasonable) with real ales, including the excellent EPA.
NB Alton
Nice one Tim, I'll have to get down to the Holy Inadequate next time. Cheers, Brian
JamesWoolcock
I'll vote for The Holy Inadequate too. Kept us well happy at the Etruria Jubilee do as the beer tent hit new lows!
