was driving past rodley on leeds liverpool and noticed that the canal looked quite frozen but couldnt see how thick

Just been to rty ontinue my journey from Bank newton N/Yorks, about 1cm of ice and a bit too slippy around the locks.

 

Looks like it will have to wait.

Not quite! Had heavy snow showers on Friday 16th Dec here Natwich/Chester area. Very cold Friday night so froze! Saturday icy. Today sun out but took awhile for heavy black cloud to clear Nantwich way, went shopping am. Back roads very icy and pavements icy in Nantwich. Tattenahall Marina - sun cleared alot of ice by afternoon today but may re-freeze tonight though?

Guess what Swanley provide salt to every jetty in yellow bins? Do other Marina's do the same?

Yes, BWML's Sawley Marina do. And they have spread salt around on the paths etc

Enough ice on The Old Nene this morning for a nb to give up trying to get to March from Flood's Ferry. He's not intending blacking his hull til well into next year apparently......

Slough Arm partially frozen when I got home this morning, when I left for work tonight it was already -1 and the rest of the water was catching up with the frozen bits

We may have ice on the canal but I doubt if we shall see anywhere near enough to be 'frozen in' . . .

The Black Countryman went ice-breaking on the first of the many Santa cruises yesterday morning. It was freezing here from about 8pm on on Friday and is freezing again tonight. I doubt we'll actually get solidly frozen in though.

Lots of treacherous black ice on backroads outside Reading.If you ride a motorbike tomorrow would be a very good day not to be on the road.Getting milder from Wednesday down south at least.
