dor
I see from the new Waterways World that Fernwood's Whitfield is for sale for, wait for it, £170,000. Complete with totally impractical cratch cover. What do the members think it would really sell for? My link Edited for the benefit of Davidss who seems to think that a small error in posting is a great source of humour. Davidss
Even funnier is that after >3000 posts, the OP can't post a working link :-) http://www.theusedbo...address=MERCIA Yes, I'm just pulling your leg, my sense of humour is possibly different to yours. If this is the boat I think it is, the topic has been raised before, so you could find lots of opinions already posted. Thanks for the smile ! charles123
I dont think it will sell any time soon. Its is a rich mans folly. No more than that motorised butty thats been on ABNB for I dont know how long but at least a year. As to what its worth, if someone came along who fancied it they my pay short of £100k. If I was the owner I would take advice and see what a boat builder could do at reasonable cost to make it more conventional and thus saleable. Like taking away the joy stick caper and raised rear seats. Then the buyer has to have a reality check to understand its true value. But you never know to some very wealthy people, maybe the owner is one them, to lose £70k or more might not be a big event Charles

Yachts, Meditteranean and pilots licence were mentioned if I remember right. So yes probably new money that has gone to their head!

Guest User
and here's the two boats for sale either side of poor Whitfield .... NB Swallowtail a 2010 57 footer for a shade under £67K and NB Montana a 2010 60 footer for just under £95K ..... you could have BOTH of these for less than the asking of Whitfield ????? PaddingtonBear
I agree with Moomin, where are these boats for sale? the Super Dear Boat Co? as the other two are probably double what they should be in the present market.

dor
It's old news I'm afraid it was mentioned on here some weeks ago. So sorry if you think it is old news. As it is the subject of a full page ad in WW which I received today, I did think it had a certain amount of topicality.

sociable_hermit
Take the value of a luxury conventional boat that size, minus the cost of removing the more ridiculous technology and generally "making good", and that's what I'd pay. So probably about 80k.

Dominic M
If somebody buys it, and who knows, they may do, then I would be the first person to wish them well. We all have our own tastes. Vive la difference. As a boat owner, it's not for me, but then my boat is not for others either.
Barry
I like Whitefield I'm not a purist so I think the design - especially those funky windows is radical and it appeals to me So apart from the vulnerable cratch, the dodgy steering, and the price - those three things aside - what's wrong with it? sociable_hermit
It's a porn palace with stupid windows and a daft cratch cover and impractical controls and lots of unnecessary electronics which will fail. Apart from that its great. Edited January 15, 2011 by Lady Muck reported post
