The Biased Broadcasting Company must be short of scare stories to put such drivel up.

Come to think of it - they're on form . . .

Quote:

Co-author of the Resilient Places report Samuel Jones said: "Urban infrastructure like canals and old railway lines is the foundation of strong, vibrant communities.

"But ordinary people won't be able to really be part of this society without the access, and freedom, to make the communities their own."

What utter dross! They were when they were being used for their designed and intended purposes, when closed, they became 'Keep Out' areas - segregated as 'Dangerous'.

Peoples responsible attitude towards what is currently their environment and living space is what builds a strong community, not ambling along industrial relics of lost communications - interesting though they are.

What's the odds he got paid for writing that?

Ah but just think how much things will improve once those industrial relics have interpretation panels and "public artworks" littering them every few yards. They could become once more a vibrant part of local communities. All that is needed is a publicly funded bunch of development workers to decide how best to waste spend the grant money.

Very true - yet another folly that should be nipped in the bud if the current projected 'cuts' are accurately placed. Big 'IF' I'm afraid. We will have to wait and see. Coalition governments have in the past had a life expectancy close to that of a First World War Airman.
