barrow on soar

Hi, I need to get from barrow on soar to sawley tomorrow, does anybody know the state of the river?

There's no EA flood warnings, and the Soar hasn't been particularly high since early december apart from a blip late Jan. The rain forecast tommorow should appear later so go for it.

Went past on the train to London and the river looked fine................. You should have no problems.

kegworth shallow flood lock was in use 5pm today... river looks a little high but not in flood.

Thanks for the info folks, alas it was duff the soar is in flood and has been closed to navigation for over a week.

Apart from phoning Bw ref the state of the river, is there any other way of checking? ie a website? Waterscape doesn't mention the navigation being in flood or closed.

if you are near enough you could try a visual check

Yesterday - The sign at Barrow Lock was still in flood. With three canal time sitting at the top.

checked board at mountsorrel at about 14:30, and Barrow light a little later. board well into amber, barrow light on green.

Sounds like Soar Boating Club must be very keen to help fellow boaters then ?

I never found any reference to the navigation being closed or open on there website, I did e-mail the chap who controls the traffic light at the lock, but he never replied. Got my info from Fazely office.

I've had a very nice reply from SBC saying that the service was meant for members only.
