Bagpuss
i wonder whether we'll ever see this type of thing on lock gear? I didn't get the tip of my finger back...
woodenit
a similar device for my planer thicknesser would have saved a couple of finger tips, and a bansaw blade through the nuckle isnt much fun. but i give my tablesaw and radial arm saw the utmost respect. (im sh~t scared of them) blunt blades caused my accidents (+ a tad of stupidity).

soldthehouse
Comments ? Chris If its for real what a piece of kit, I cant imagine my hands the way they used to be, one of my fingers the kids call my ET finger and most of the others have battle scars from working late at night or when tired,
woodenit
hurts more when the blades are blunt yeah it did smart. im cringing as i write, when i think of if the blades had been nice and sharp but chances are the accidents wouldnt have happened. my mate stubby just planed one finger down to the nuckle on his lovely new expensive 12"planer, ouch, the numpty
blackrose
Yes it's a great idea as long as the safety mechanism doesn't malfunction and deploy when it isn't needed, for example in humid weather. If it wrecked a couple of blades and mechanisms unnecessarily the user would soon get rid of it, but if it's relaible then it's great.
dove
For this to work as they say, don't you have to be connected to the sensor to create a circuit or have I not grasped the logic. Also what happends if your wearing gloves. I think I'll just keep my fingers out of the way. Andrew

Gibbo
Another bloke cut all his fingers off in a saw. The surgeon said they could probably sew them back on..... "Have you brought them with you?"...... "No, I couldn't pick them up". Sorry, wrong place.

luctor et emergo
Like seatbelts and airbags, this is just another one of those 'solutions' to counter man's (and woman's) inability to be careful. I can just see the headlines in America now. Litigation laywers will do a brisk trade. As for a few drunken lads, a dare, and a trip to hospital....
