MJ/kg (or MJ/l for liquid fuels) makes far more sense, a much smaller number and easily convertible to kWh (multiplying by 0.28) for easy comparison with electric/gas costs.

 

Useful rule of thumb -- a kilogram or a litre of solid or liquid fuel is not far off 10kWh.
