Featured Posts

Classic outsourced sub contracted works unsupervised when being undertaken with no formal inspection/hand back procedures . Cape locks classic dreadful lock gate replacement last year no excuse for no supervisor it's just round the bend from the CRT Hatton base .Never saw any CRT on site as I passed daily . There are some positives about the scheme - there are new bollards the Leicester side of the chain bridge which will save the need for moorers to use pins. There is still a grass bank along the stretch used for mooring.

I always like to keep an eye on CRT management (or lack of) on projects such as this, dredging, gate repairs etc.

So today, I had a local visit and took half an hour to enjoy the CRT new gravel topped towpath with new bollards.

Chain bridge end....smooth transition enabled from Chain Bridge end.

I believe someone has forgotten the gravel top...20230825_104210.jpg.72de96358b8efe98edbbc99bd8738cc2.jpg

Lots of new ( bollard).....holes, some obvious, some ankle breakingly hidden...

I'm surprised there are never any signs saying "DANGER, DEEP WATER"

But then on thinking about it, maybe there isn't any.

Or DANGER SHALLOW WATER. But they would have to order and erect thousands of signs.

Matt, they put the signs up before they lay the gravel, so that they're there ready for when the gravel is, rather than having loose gravel but no signs (safety issue). But don't let it interfere with your criticisms of CRT......

The towpath was supposed to be completed at end of May, and then gravelled in midsummer when the tarmac was warm enough... not left smooth tarmac.

The gravelling has not been completed, neither have the bollards....which has left at least 12 holes which could break your ankle of getting off boat in the long grass.

Dont let this stop you criticising a post for the sake of criticising.
