Egcellent boat. I particularly like the fender grass. Shame about the outboard though...
magnetman
Without looking it up I'd guess the blue one is an ex BW workboat. Possibly a dredger. Not sure who would have built it but it looks a bit like a shipyard boat. Cammell Laird did some narrow boats. Will now go and look on the boat list and see what it says. Yarwoods apparently Vigilante Built by Yarwoods - Length : 14.63 metres ( 48 feet ) - Beam : 2.083 metres ( 6 feet 10 inches ) The air scoops are because it probably has a large air cooled Lister or Petters engine in it. Built in the 1960s as an inspection launch (I guess there was a lot of decline to inspect by then...) that could also break ice. Looks a bit sad in this video which shows the Lister Scoops for vintage engine apart it looks like an early hire cruiser to me.
magnetman
I like it. Not keen on noisy old air cooled Listers. As it was apparently built by Yarwood it might have a really nice shape to it so possibly a good candidate for electric conversion.
merline
I think it was centre cockpit wheel steered originally, as with other inspection launches big windowed saloon for canal execs and engine room/cabin aft for crew, roof mounted air ducts make sense. I love it personally!

magnetman
There is a Bantam push tug in Maidenhead with exactly the same engine cooling air outlets. Been there a while not sure what will happen to it. Sadly it looks like someone has had the brass parts. I must go and put a board over the hole in the roof when passing. I think there was a porthole there for engine room light. Hadn't noticed this. Lots of water will get in there. Such a nice little boat it is odd it has been abandoned. Shame if it sinks and gets scrapped but seems probable.
