Could i use Mig welder cable for battery cables

It’s often sold as heavy duty battery/welding cable, it’s fine to use as battery cable, just use the correct amp rated cable and good lugs to suit your battery ampage and you’ll be fine.

  We are talking about the copper cable.

Not sure of the specification but make sure they meet the Boat Safety Scheme minimum requirements - I expect they do but check. I think it is 25 sq mm CCSA

It is also a lot more flexible than standard multi strand battery cable, which can make installing easier. As others have said, make sure it meets, or exceeds the 25mm^2 minimum cross sectional area requirement for the BSS. Also calculate voltage drop for the expected maximum current and length of cables and make sure you are happy with that. 12V Planet sell cables in sizes up to 95mm^2 that they describe as high flex, with lots of small copper strands and say it can also be used as welding cable.

Try to obtain tinned copper cable, it is more resistant to corrosion if it gets damp/salty. Untinned can quickly oxidise to black and give poor connections.

When I worked for BT we often used multiple 25mm2 welding cable for temporary battery installations and also for mobile generator output cables.
