Paint falling off cabin , brasses polished to a sheen. That’s how it should be.

Well, that's how it was. What you did with brass and plates was under the control of the boatman or woman. The paint job was down to the company (mostly). The one had pride - the other an account book.

There are also some useful images of the structure of the waterway buildings.

The locomotive in the scrapyard was Avonside Engine Co works no 1921 of 1923 . This was Rounds Scrapyard at Wednesbury- the locomotive was scrapped there in 1967.

There are some shots of the Walsall Canal with Towy travelling up Ryders Green Locks, past Pudding Green and Spon Lane locks then past Chances Glassworks. There is a back view towards Spon Lane and all this before the Motorway was built!

The film also shows rail wagons on the siding to Great Bridge Interchange wharf as well as a Class 08 Shunter on the Bridge

In addition to Towy, the clip starts with the horse boat sequence. It is nice to see a working horse on the canal.

Yes quite so. Much better than lolling around in the fields, getting into trouble!
