At the height of their fame, Dave Hill of Slade bought the house next door to the girls' grammar school my sister went to. There was a lot of gawping by teenage girls, especially when his Roller, registration number YOB 1, was in the driveway.

I was reading that he and Don Powell the only two original Members recently had a falling out and Dave Hill sacked him . I think Jim Lea and Noddy did most of the writing and earned the big money .
