Yup, and a good solution too.

What is the bit rate of MP3's extracted from YouTube?

I don't think bit rate will be an issue on their wind up gramophone.

You can download Sidify Music Converter. This will allow you to download Spotify playlists and save the mp3 files to your computer.

Where were you when I needed you earlier..?

I use Audacity. This will record ANYTHING that is playing on the computer, YouTube or Spotify or vlc player or anything, as a flac file. I then convert them using a simple audio converter program to mp3 files that I load into iTunes and onto my iPod.

No one seems to have suggested the obvious: go to a shop (or on to eBay) and buy a CD. These days there are literally thousands of CD compilations on the market; I don't know what sort of music you're looking for, but it should not be hard to find one which you like and which suits your needs.

He's getting married, Athy. I think he wants some pretty specific songs.
