  2. You need to book passage through the two key locks.

  5. It's just as well this forum exists, as without your post Richard, a boater (including Nigel or myself)could have turned up on the 25th expecting to get through and be stuck there if nobody else books.
  6. just nip up the Trent and Mersey East of the Alrewas river section or the North Oxford, wood lying everywhere.
  7. ....you seem to forget more date changes for last years bridge closure than all the CRT closure changes put together... because you said this...
  8. If you had set off on Sunday there wouldnt have been a problem. There is NO wrong way for a continuous cruiser, but a choice of lots of options, one of which you can not use again for 5 weeks. Keep moving more than one km and you are fine, less and you have no sympathy.
  9. well that will include the english channel as well then...
  10. Find a slot when you can go out of Limehouse at 5-6am, you will have a wonderful cruise up through all the best bits without having any large ferry and much other shipping movements happening. Book a slot at Rembrandt Gardens(Little Venice) very early in the year , then spend half a day getting to Limehouse and moor up for an overnight ready. Have a look at boats going out and how the lock works. Lovely experience.
  11. Ray must mean he found the almost 4ft deepest bit and it became shallower from there on.......
  12. tell 'em to start t'other side of Bridge 88, that will make the field into the New Staffordshire Hills
  13. That'll mean that the hold will now have 30 tonnes of composting Loo contents in place of the coal...
  14. Have they??, where? We had our first good look at a 12 months ago Keelblack coated hull a few weeks ago, and were not impressed. rust spots coming through everywhere , waterline coverage poor and we also found that a degreaser wash used before painting the superstructure degraded the coating, making it permanently soft in the areas it ran down. Normal Rytex doesnt get degraded this way. On seeing the hull, the disappointed owners paid for a new reblacking using Rytex Premium.
  15. They asked me to do that yesterday if it's the one via Smudge. I am alread6 booked that weekend so passed it over. It isn' a difficult stretch.......IF they start running water down early, IF they have cleared the bywashes of reeds beforehand. ....and if the Soar is playing nicely for you to get there. Friday nights rain stuck a foot of fresh and in amber on the river for 24 hours, back to normal now. I will keep you posted.

  18. The Soar is also a wonderful river. Yesterday evening set off at sunset and enjoyed a full moon cruise up to Sileby....where we tied the ropes up just in time for a brilliant view of the Sileby Cricket Club firework display.

    Drones

Luckily for the CRT bloke the Pontywhatsit is still in Wales, not at Saul Junction then.

    Drones

They are probably testing the device to issue the £150 "OVERSTAY CHARGES" they are threatening if you moor on a LTM for 5 minutes. You do get very boring with your hate of drones Nick.
  21. Well he wasn't there last Friday night as I was moored on it
  22. Someone has to grout the lock bricks back in.......
