Thanks for that info MP. Coming through next week so shall look out for that.
Awalton one of my fave moorings too and the lock is the only lock I have ever seen from underneath a narrowboat!
Dont know about everyone but I got an email notification too. Shows up as new message in messenger when I log
on here but is not actually there if I try to open it !
Presume your outlet pipe from loo to tank is 38mm ?
All the installations, repairs and blockages on macerator loos /holding tanks that I have ever done (as far as I can remember) all have the outlet pipe running uphill and slightly higher than the bowl water height- usually where it enters the top of the waste tank. So I should be interested to hear how you get on - please post results.
If your waste tank is lower than the toilet and the waste pipe falls to the tank I would presume the water in the bowl is draining away. Any valves in the waste pipe are one way valves designed to stop stuff coming back and wont be much good at holding water in.
If you pick up the waste pipe behind the loo so it is at a height equal or higher than the bowl water height (letting it fall after this) it should cure it.
Charlie- uk. I moved a boat last year that had a Sterling 1800 quasi inverter in. This run the fridge and gas cooker starter and fan(240v) , phone and laptop charger and a Matsui 700 watt microwave (non digital) with no problems at all.
I was instructed not to plug the freezer in however as it apparently didnt like it. I didnt plug my toothbrush in either as am fed up of replacing the charger.
When I went past the EA yard last year the Wickerman was actually moored up on the little island where SG spotted the willow structure. Would have loved to know both the story and EA reaction to that!
Was gone next time I came past.
Did a trad sterned narrowboat a few years ago that drained the front deck into the bilge. The front deck was too low to self drain so I welded in a steel channel to the front bulkhead which the deck then drained into. This channel was drained by two 1 1/2 inch pipes (port and starboard) into a sump with a pump/float switch. The front deck was to have had a cratch cover fitted but still has not as of yet-bilges are still dry though-barring the odd pump failure.
Pretty sure the only way to use the Barford slip is by going through a private yard (used mainly for glider repairs now I think)
But to add to the list-
Priory Marina, Bedford 01234 351931
Buckden Marina 01480 812660
LH Jones , St Ives 01480 494040
If Denver is a bit out of the way , Northampton Marina (Becketts Park) will sell you a EA licence.
3kw is ok as long as you dont wire it in using a 3 pin plug- wire it directly to a suitably rated timer.
If you have, like many, a limited power supply you will be forever tripping out as you overload the bollard.
(slower typer than bottle)
I opened that link in the Google Maps app on my android phone- it shows your position then. If you want to prove your locations travelled you could activate 'GPS tag' on your phones camera -it will give a location, time and date then. Of course if you dont use a smart phone not alot of help!
The new site is soon to replace the site you refer to. I think the new site is being tested before removing the old. Must say the new site seems to be more accurate and relevant to the levels where I am than the old site was.
Think I see the offending (rather large) bit at Primrose a bit before Xmas? Become a bit of a nightmare then. One thing I will say about the Sabb's is they have a very civilised exhaust note ! - even running mine with no pipe on it is not particulary noisy.
Hoping mine doesnt need that doing to it for at least a good while. It runs great so was hoping it may outlast me :-D Changed the oil pressure relief spring a little while ago- cost me about £25 or so for about 20 p worth of spring! Ouch.
Internet addy for manuals- (credit to Rob18 for solving where installation stuff is)

Thanks for pointer Rob18. Had just found it on the Sabb site. I hadnt realised it was in the norwegian manual and wasnt included in the english version.
2J is going into a 50 ft trad - would have liked to have it in engine room but have no room so will be in the stern.I got it cos I loved the simplicity and sound of it so will be hearing plenty of it though must admit I was originally looking for a 2G :-)
There is another member on here with 2G in I think a 57ft- look on you tube for narrowboat Bullfinch.
I hadnt come across engine bed dimensions anywhere - do you read norwegian :-D-any idea whereabouts I might find that or could you email it to me- not vital as have already measured off the engine but very interested to see it.
How comes you using the 2 G and not 2J ?
Really looking forward to getting mine in and running- great engines.
I tend to visualise in imperial but measure in metric. Although a stick plus a few mm is always a valid measurement :-)
So come on Mtb- have you got a Sabb 2J or just thinking about it ? They are a great grunty engine with a good sound and as the only other person Ive come across who may or may not own one, you have my interest.
Would this also be a low hours ex lifeboat engine perchance?
