  1. There is no dilemma Phil I don't claim to know it all but have also had years doing it hence why my advise is anything but nonsense.
  2. What on earth are you on?I have extensive boat renovation including major hull repair experience that stretches far beyond a few ropey boats. I have not stamped my feet I gave the OP a realistic opinion based up "real" hands on experience to which you rudely call nonsense. Spending 30k on an old broads cruiser is not a good idea especially for canal use. Dare I guess you are one of the brokers selling such boats hence your bad attitude!
  3. that still does not detract from the fact "I've done it"I've looked at endless amounts of over priced plastic boats as well as owning them, I know the script. it was very disrespectful as my knowledge is anything but nonsense so the comment is needless as it lacks any substance.
  4. Likewise with the "nonsense" comment ?
  5. its not nonsense I've done it end of boy any amount of research by looking at such boats will reveal the truth.Just go apolloduck there is one on there now for 10k for a 30 foot peice of Tupperware built in the 70s total joke.
  6. They might do but people who sell boats at those places sell you the dream not the reality.Try this guy http://www.lmbs.co.uk Bare in mind it's the same firm who builds most of the sail away wide beam shells for a lot of the boat fitting firms accept a few more expensive ones like Piper. Why not consider a narrowboat? Smaller space to heat, maintain and in material cost.
  7. That's not entirely correct though is it really there are shed loads of things wrong with the things from knackered transverse engine installations to knackered windows and stinking carpet stuck on the fiberglass, they are not all like the one you had?An old broads cruiser in good condition without significant osmosis or damp damage fitted out to the level of comfort you had is not going to give much change out of 25k plus. A brand new steel sail away is far better value for money when you put all sentimental memories aside.
  8. If your fitting out a sail away you will be camping on it for a bit its a fact, it's fun while you work on the boat rather than settling for and old plastic broads cruiser.
  9. My thinking is do you knock on and say something or put up with it for fear of bad feeling as people who run gennys after hours always have some cock n ball excuse and in so many words tell you to F off anyway!
  10. Wide beam sail away might be an idea? The good thing about wide beams is you can put more housy type stuff in them while you rough it as more funds allow. I camped in my sail away and pleased I did rather than buy an over priced second hand knackered boat!
  11. From what I can gather Adi the idea is not to step in court in person so there is no judge to argue with,so it becomes a paper games that escalates and can be manipulated. If you would like to know more just ask David Ward he's on Facebook for communication. I don't need to take his approach as the issue is resolved but God help CRT if this bloke decided to get a boat haha!
  12. Where did Tom Crawford spout FOTL nonsense, in a court hearing? If that's a yes there is the answer apparently. The point Ward who is far from FOTL by the way made was there is no material evidence full stop so he didn't play "their" game by stepping in court. I have spoken with David Ward who claims he won the case at tribunal and he has since done this a further 20 times, so I am not sure meaningless rubbish or such descriptions are correct but if folks disagree speak to him directly and be educated or entertained the choice is yours! It's not a route I need to go down anyway but the idea has been entertaining to say the least! I think Tony's approach is more suited by sticking to the waterways act and keep bringing CRT back to it precisely. Cheers.
  13. you are not discussing you are deliberately picking holes and trying to make me out to be a liar which is very different.Rather pathetic but thankfully not representative of people I meet on the canal.
  14. No I did not say someone owns my land I said CRT make an L3 charge based on the idea they own the land under my moored or any moored boats but when challenged and actually asked to present a name and address for who owns the land under the boat they are unable to do so,I can only assume most just bend over and pay do they were not ready when asked for a name and address. Just to clarify for you Graham I own the several miles of land next to the canal.
  15. keep up Graham the land under the boat hence why the L3 is invented by CRT.You just want to argue for arguments sake like MJG.
