  1. Not all karting centres hang onto their old tyres, or may have enough. Have a word with your local tyre depot, they might be pleased to see you. They may also have forklift tyres, they also make good fenders.
  2. "Alongside gym bunny Amar........" ?? Jeeeezz, please tell me it won't clash with Strictly.....

  4. Spanish windlass round the balance beams would have been the less dramatic way to go. Thing that was really cringeworthy was that windlass stuffed down his back, unless the boat was wheelchair friendly.
  5. Stuck on there for five days with Tina? Not surprised he was smiling.
  6. Ah, okay, thanks for that.
  7. I'd need a wee bit more info, before I passed judgement. Presumably he was on a river section with a bit of fresh on and trying to get onto a cut? If that's correct he should have been able to reach safe haven without all that feetmark.
  8. Why has someone chainsawed two mature trees from that narrowboat roof? They must've taken ages to grow.......
  9. Hi, I'd echo your concerns about the handling of the boat. When you see a steel boat with the amount of fenders usually found on a cruiser, it's either the steerer that can't or the boat handles like a cow in soft sand. Please do be careful with the price also, probably 15 to 20k more than it should be, hope you've some good haggling skills.

  11. Indeed, one of the finest formed hulls I've seen. Even though it's been overplated it's a work of art.
  12. Thanks Heartland, that's an image I haven't seen before. Really interesting.
  13. Just for interest, Tug JUMSEY on the shelf.... And just a few months back...
  14. As mentioned above, several thin coats would be better as that will help the bitumen to get into all the pores in the metal. If you must thicken it just leave the lid off in this heat, the solvent will soon evaporate.
  15. Great answers, thanks to all. My Board of Trade suggestion was a guess but now looks good. Thanks again..... Presumably long since cut up, that space now occupied by tug JUMSEY.
  16. Could anyone confirm what the BT (or BOT) stands for, as seen on the side of a BACAT barge. Assuming the horizontal bar is a load line but what's the lettering? Not really right for British Transport and too late anyway. Board of Trade? Like to find out, thanks.....
  17. Ah, okay, I know the guy stood on the back with me. Don't think he was too impressed though (he said as much) and, although I don't mind the odd lung full of diesel fumes, a couple of hours of it tends to take the shine off.
  18. Fit a right angled elbow to divert your exhaust fumes to the side. 3 1/2 miles of breathing diesel fumes is no joke, the chaperone won't appreciate it either.
  19. I've seen the community barge SOBRIETY moored at Horbury bridge, so think you should be good. From memory I believe Millbank lock is the shortest on that section but that's further up.

  24. That's fantastic, really well done..........obviously a bloke with plenty of patience.
