  1. I have used these http://www.screwfix.com/p/bosch-multipurpose-drill-bit-set-4pcs/95958 And found they do as it says on the box Dilled through hardened stainless steel when other drills would not and then used on wood and brick Hole not drilled to exact dia but better than no hole Ray
  2. Hi. My timer is a Webasto? TM823 came in the Webasto box with the heater etc and progs 7 days with 8 settings per day Ray
  3. Question, If the stove in question weighs 52kg and a Squirrel 70kg logic says the Squirrel has more metal ie thicker ? Ray
  4. Our Webasto was installed without any knowledge of fuel type and set up on red diesel, I immediately started to use Kerro and have now used this for seven years approx 6000 hours ! the heater has never been seviced or given a moments trouble Also where is the regulator on a Webasto and what would you set it to? Ray
  5. My none waterside dealer (it is not far from the canal) who sells in the 10,000s of litres per week, asks for name, address, use for fuel and car registration number There is also a big sign saying they do not sell fuel for use in boats They do however sell to marinas and fuel boats in the area To me its all a nonsense just buy what you need and be honest in what you declare Ray PS I only purchase Kerro from them, I buy my red wherever and declare as I think is appropriate

  10. Who can explain that the 1000's of C&RT customer manage to renew , however only the few (myself included ) who haunt CWDF manage without any problems whilst the majority of CWDF or dare I say C&RT knockers have problems ????? Just asking Ray
  11. Renewed mine 5 mins including re setting DD up confirmation email with new window decals etc arrived in seconds Cant fault it, C&RT even emailed me with all the new stuff I needed a couple of weeks before I renewed, confirmation email even had a copy of my BSC attatched First class service Ray
  12. Rivers I can see a major issue, however as most canals are circa 3ft max in depth and yes I have fallen in, L&L water did not reach my crutch but it was a job to climb back on board as I was at the bow and did not think to walk to the stern which is a lot lower and flat! I would say most folk who fall overboard in canals are ok as standing up will prevent drowning, unless in locks where it may be impractical to deploy a ladder It would be interesting to see how many deaths are from falls overboard in the canal system I would think less than from the towpath However I would always go with the better safe than sorry where possible and say that a lifejacket worn when in locks or on a river is the better solution and better still a practical means of reboarding Ray PS a stern mounted ladder on a river is not a lot of use if you think about it if the faller is not and olimpic class swimmer fully clothed
  13. Hi, Lots of BL cars use 13/15 psi caps 14psi is rare and I am sure the tech is not there to be a problem so I would go for a BL at 13 or 15 as the cost is circa £3 You could work out the temp diff between 13,14, and 15 psi but why bother the tolerance is provably more Ray
  14. If you google "boat boarding ladder" and look in images there are 100's of examples of reboarding ladders to view and get some ideas from Ray https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=boat+boarding+ladder&safe=strict&biw=1366&bih=659&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiIiuuT7YDKAhWJnBoKHcyLBqEQ_AUIBygC
  15. These is plenty of parking in the area - google liverpool centre parking, newish changes mean that all the paking on/near the dockside/arena area is now £15 for 24 hrs or if you park adjacent to Liverpool Marina its £5 for 24 hours Ray
  16. Most BT "tubes" have a bolt on guard or grille at each side, if not already fitted you can fit blanking plates to each side using these fixings and fit the thrusters unit whilst in the water Ours is a Vetus and as I am a little lazy use the BT as and when I need it, a lot in fact at our last marina as the prevailing gale blew all who tried to manouvre at the wrong time into the bankside adjacent to the moorings I have not found any used on ebay but there were lots of new ones when I last looked from £900 to £1400 depending on size/power Regards Ray
  17. Building to the RCD is not difficult, in fact if you can get copies of the required standards its like a how to do it in easy stages What is difficult is getting the standards without spending lots of money For most folk the owners manual and technical file will prove to be a challenge, however its all possible and when completed the satisfaction of knowing that your boat is built to the required standards Good Luck Ray

  19. Hi, We fitted ours at Chorley on the hardstanding at Bottany Bay we needed lifting into the water anyway so it was a lift off, fitt out the boat and lift into the L&L Its a lot easier to work on the boat out of the water and the monthly "rent" at the boatyard less than a marina Also you can give the hull a good looking at and another coat or two of blacking We live in Urmston so its not a long journey to Bottany Bay and it has a pub next door, B&Q plumbers merchants etc close by Good Luck Ray
  20. Richard Parry has taken a much more gradual approach. No, CRT does not have the same exact layout as it had when he took over. But the changes have been gradual rather than a series of big bangs, and the approach appears to be pragmatic rather than textbook-led. It seems happier and more harmonious to me, and that makes for a better and more customer-responsive organisation. All my dealings with BW/C&RT since our move to water in 2007 have been 100% positive, each and every contact by phone, email or calling into the Wiagn office have been efficient and had the outcome I required We have CC'd, none BW water moorings and several canal and river moorings (yes we move about) and met conversed at all levels with BW/C&RT employees on our travels with only one misunderstanding where we were to spend a glorious night moored on the MSC side of Marsh Lock Just booked two weeks at Wigan dry dock, great response and service from the team at Wigan Office ditto renewing our licence when I made a few errors on the website Is it just luck or maybe I treat folk as I would expect them to treat me Ray
