  3. very true, FiL got one for my MiL as she said it was the only way she'd cycle again, we were at a family BBQ for some reason or other and it came out of the shed. Oh how we laughed as one of my wife's sisters wobbled it straight into the hedge ... until we all had a go. FiL sold it a month later
  4. theres an old bloke comes up our hill on occasion on a fat e-trike, if i ever manage to catch him ill get the details for you
  5. i lost interest in fat bikes once i discovered they weren’t just bikes for fat lads
  6. surely you'd then have to fit hydrofoils to the boat?
  7. i’d imagine the width footprint of a trike would not be suitable for a lot of towpath pinch points. you could try a track cyclist like Sir Chris Hoy who is used to turning a huge gear from a standing start on two wheels, so a lesser gear with weight to pull might be comparable. perhaps Robert Förstemann could be employed more cheaply, he certainly has the legs for it
  8. i’d imagine it will also become a handy target to chuck stuff at with the intention of popping/sinking it
  9. my thoughts exactly, a lady not to be trifled with
  10. the security tag thing has happened a few times from Asda for us, couple of weeks ago the driver told me it was ok as they’re all supposed to carry the removal gizmo on the vans now. he went back to the van and rummaged for a bit, then swore, then came back and apologised as someone at the depot had “borrowed” it. we got a refund. first time it happened the nice lady driver said there were some f’ing idiots working on the packing and literally pulled the tag off with her bare hands ?

  12. If only King John and the Barons had had the foresight to include a section on parking/mooring fines in Magna Carta (or any of the other versions)
  13. there's always some unintended target that gets caught out though. poor Grandpa Joe, who's eyesight isn't what it was and there-were-no-signs-there-5-years-ago-when-he-last-cruised-that-way, stops there to put the kettle on and have a gypsy's before carrying on cruising and gets landed with a £150 fine when he gets home after his month long trip. by which time early payment bonus is out of the window and he has to stump up the whole amount. these companies are well known for underhanded smallprint and bullying tactics, and far too many organisations sub-out for their services
  14. i've just had a letter from SpecSavers to say my eye test is overdue, pick me up on the way and we can kill two birds with one stone (may need to stop at a castle though for thorough eye testing purposes)
  15. whoever allowed these parking companies, who are now spilling over into mooring management, to exist in the first place needs attaching to the nearest trebuchet by their genitals and flinging into the next county. i'm all for folk playing by the rules, but these parasites are not doing it for anyones benefit but their own pockets.
  16. that's very true, i'd no idea how much people who smoked and their clothes stunk of it until i quit after 20 odd years of smoking, now it hits my nose like a battering ram (and makes me pine for a crafty drag or two )
  17. they just happened to talk to a single "resident" who wished to remain nameless and also had intimate knowledge of how the boat came to be there and was making all the right complaining noises that you would put forward in an official-type complaint? smells like a set up interview to further their cause to me
  18. surely you’re used to handling logs?

  20. i grew up with an Airedale from birth until i was about 13 or 14, lovely dog and was very protective. My mum got another one but it suffered with an odd stomach problem that no-one could get to the bottom of and was the most nervous animal i've ever seen don't see many of them around these days sadly
