  1. Jus tto pickup on this as the OP looks like they may be sorting it..... I have a small margarine tub under mine and this fills after about 4 hours cruising. If I tighten the greaser its fine until the next time...... is it time i tighten my nuts or is this acceptable??
  2. Its not the same as property share as you are a part owner of the boat, usually a 12th or similar. Most syndicates have around 12 owners and you generally get 4 weeks a year (often more if anyone cant do their time). Allocation of the weeks is the bit that varies between syndicates, some have a random hat, others have a list, some have red/yellow zones etc... You purchase your share, then pay a monthly fee for running of the boat - all of this is free to see on share websites such as www.bcbm.co.uk etc... its a great way to cruise the network as the boats move around bases over time following AGM votes etc.
  3. thanks so much for the replies, i now have a plan on my next visit!!
  4. Hi All, I'm looking to clean up the base of the tiller and grease properly as it squeaks when moving it. Looking at the pic what's the best way to separate this - anxious bits don't drop off into the canal ... big nut on the top or the four allen bolts? I've tried greasing via the nipple but its not working as it should....... thanks all!!!
  5. Best of luck but be aware this has been done by others before you, and done very well... what angle will you be bringing out of interest?
  6. Excellent method. This is on my list to do and wondered if something like this would suffice for the pump? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07F9WF2WM/?coliid=I1AK3E9FZKHH4U&colid=1WRD3SIH27V20&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  7. Just popped in some random dates into Kate Boats availability and most were booked up... seems people are accepting of the cost and appreciating the 'self containment' a narrowboat can give them..... all without queuing at an airport or having to isolate for 14 days without pay..... bargain!
  8. is it so wrong i have dreams about a nicely painted engine bay?
  9. Yes thats an inline fuse, and looking at the damage to it, it was probably the wrong one fitted (too high?). Follow the red wire that has the yellow end on to see where it goes..

  11. Not everyone has the luxury of choosing when they move their boat.... If you're at Yelvertoft then times for services are limited and if you've just got the weekend you can't wait for ideal conditions.... I often give the residents a good chuckle when I'm out!
  12. I believe the next review is due on Thursday (30th) so lets hope things are eased up.
  13. its four weeks until we hope to go ... i'm hoping their lockdown will have eased by then otherwise Watford here we come!
  14. Same here, same timing also I'll wave to you!
  15. why do boats go on the right and cars on the left?

  17. and one needs to be left handed and the other right....
  18. This are interesting as they have largely turned into party political broadcasts. I've seen Russell Howard live and he is totally different when not on the BBC - when we was on Mock the Week he was continually pushing political views.... maybe they sign something before being allowed on?
  19. In my research this was the conclusion I came to also. Wouldn't it be great if you could get a slightly curved 'standard' panel that fitted the boat roof like a glove, that would be popular, especially if it had low profile magnetic fittings.
  20. We mainly watch box sets/YouTube content/Netflix etc. Don't watch any terrestrial scheduled TV so don't have/need a licence - just use catchup services (excl iPlayer). Dropped watching things at scheduled times last year and it freed us up so much!
  21. Thanks for that.... so I'm thinking the ones with the catches might be M3 x 10mm, so if I order some that have M4 x 10mm that's the next size up? sorry about this!!
