  2. This forum is more a matter of life and deaf ...
  3. Except @rusty69 obviously. We don't think that at all about those posts!
  4. Hoist lift is onto or off a wagon. They use a hydraulic trailer and a tractor on the slipway to take you in and out of the water. That's £125 each way, or £190 for a V bottom that needs extra chocking.

  6. Depends on the inverter. My old 3kW inverter used to draw about 4A with no load, so we had a 150W cheapo that drew about 0.8A that was on all the time to power small appliances. The new 3kW inverter draws about 1A quiescent so that's good enough for me, and that stays on all the time.
  7. Nah. Just getting you through that top lock on the Ashton was challenging enough. You were going the full Fawlty Towers with those Willow branches.
  8. Test it. Do a standing up wee, then sit down and see if you can squeeze a bit more out. If you can, just sit down in future to avoid medical complications. It really isn't a willy waving competition!
  9. Love the comments about the kids. Couldn't agree more. My only objection about the comment is the timing on the ANT licence - if they are doing it in July there are three festivals to go to - Stratford on the 6th July, Evesham on the 13th and Pershore on 20th - we are booked into all three this year!
  10. Or just scrap the "slow down for moored boats" rule, and let anyone who wants to moor online do so and the rest can go into marinas ...
  11. Through the embankment, if it's in Middlewich.
  12. Makes sense. Does that mean that in normal cruising the controller keeps it at 48V but you have an extra burst if you need it?
  13. https://prostate.net/articles/why-men-should-sit-when-they-pee You appear to have it exactly the wrong way round.
  14. Yes, but that doesn't cause a problem for stoppage notices - by definition the winding hole on the summit pound will be the uphill one for stoppages at either end.

  16. Is this why the motor runs hot? I'm sure you have a good reason for doing this, but what is it?
  17. ... But don't bother him until after he has sent out the BCN Challenge forms!

  19. Were there motorways when you were a kid? It's called "aging"
  20. (3B) In subsection (3A) “relevant officer” means— (a) a constable; (b) a person (other than a constable) who has the powers of a constable or is otherwise employed for police purposes or is engaged to provide services for police purposes; (c) a prisoner custody officer within the meaning of Part 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1991. https://publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/cbill/2017-2019/0225/cbill_2017-20190225_en_2.htm
  21. We aren't. We are just wondering why it doesn't apply to all dogs/horses/cats, just police ones.
  22. I don't see that the expensive training makes a difference. Would you suggest it would be OK to treat an untrained mutt like this? If not, you will see why some of us are not that impressed by a special law for police dogs.
  23. Maybe nobody told the people that run the booking system! Notably that change took place when the Bridgewater introduced the 7 days no return for 28 days rule ...
  24. Not anymore. That finished in December 2016. https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/media/original/26465-bridgewater-reciprocal-agreement.pdf?v=ad83d3
  25. That's not true - sometimes the moisture doesn't bother falling as rain and just hangs around as fog for a few days.
