  1. Yep. You are one of my reference points for "EE then Three" as a recommendation for canal mobile internet. We had very few problems with Three when we were gallivanting your way last year, and all of them could be solved by moving a bit further so we got a better signal. They might also have been fixed by stopping earlier, but that's not what we did. For clarity, we are Three only via mobile phone in the window. I don't get enough spots where I can't get signal to bother with a good router and a good external aerial, and we need to be able to process card payments for sales off the boat ... Maybe your favourite pub moorings don't like the Three network!

  5. By the time you are paying more than a year's licence fee per week, there is no such thing as budget hire. I do understand why the fleets need to charge as they do, but it's far from a cheap holiday, even at the lower end of the market.
  6. Not really. It depends where in the country you spend the most time, and what coverage the different networks have there.
  7. Not sure what you mean. That 77 IV meter is being sold by a VAT registered business, and they can provide a VAT invoice. The quoted text is from the business seller's information at the bottom of the listing.
  8. From eBay: VAT number: GB 846404916 I provide invoices with VAT separately displayed.
  9. I'd prefer Oxford, but I don't think Ian is selling!
  10. The lifeline manual states surprisingly low float voltages. They are very close to the standard sealed config on the controller. Manual settings are possible, but as the OP was asking if he should double the values as he has 2 batteries, my advice stands: For those particular batteries on that particular controller, set it to sealed.

  13. Whilst preparing mine for blacking I was sat down, reaching up at a stupid angle with a cup brush on an angle grinder, getting a face full of ... stuff. I called mine an utter [something] but it wasn't plate!
  14. I'm not sure if the route scoring/planning sheets get released until later in the year. It was mid April last year when we got sent the sheets, having entered in February. When they are released I would be Delhi-ted to start planning ...
  15. Me me me. Oh wait ... I'm not entering my boat this year. I was the first entry last year and finished first. @Dr Bob was the last entry and finished last (apart from @Laurie.Booth obviously! ) There might be advantages in entering early.

  17. Then I owe you an apology. It is one of my hobbyhorses, as usually the people who complain the most about rubbish in the canals won't help get rid of any. Thanks for not being one of them!
  18. Joking aside, there is usually at least one sharps bucket on the underground section of the Rochdale 9.
  19. You could always go back and help a litter picking group rather than just rant about the bloke who is in charge of raising awareness and money ...

  21. Get impatient. Demand to know where they are now ...
