    Would also recommend the Navigation in Middlewich,a short walk from the canal. The portions last time I was there were huge.

    Also bought one, superb picture quality, sound OK especially if set in movie mode although the sound is not so good with the dvd. All in all good value for money and with a 3 year warranty.

    Yes, all the swing bridges on the Macc (and Peak Forest) are operated/locked with a watermate key.

    The latest notice suggests that they are working on it this afternoon and all weekend,planning to reopen on Monday next.

    I know of the boat and its current location is Cheshire but I am not sure whether details should go on an open forum. Suffice to say it is in excellent condition and has been well looked after.

    I think the problem that you are overlooking is the lack of VM's in Whaley Bridge. Out of the 4 visits in the last 9 months only once could I find a (poor) mooring at Whaley so I, probably like many others give up and just go straight to Bugsworth. I may walk from Bugsworth to Whaley once in a while which is a shame because of some of the good local businesses especially the chippy in Whaley.

    Starrett holesaws are probably the best in the market. For lubrication use a well stirred mix of oil and water (an engineers trick of old)
