  1. Problem with these kids is their brains are 10 years behind where they should be, i blame the parents. What do you do though, give one a dig when they jump on your boat, that just brings the police into it, get your camera out, they just cover up and play up to the camera, as shown on the video... A cattle prod would be about right, a little shock and they would be still on the floor by the time you have pulled out the lock.
  2. Maybe they are finally sorting Stoke out... Grim place.
  3. Not sure if there are any water points at the top though??
  4. No they spend all the dosh on locks on the decent canals, like the ashby!
  5. Half the locks on the oxford are in crap condition...
  6. The car was there for about 3-4 days i think, stolen from a nearby house and dumped. The spot you mentioned on the north oxford, on the offside, have looked at that spot myself a few times, i always wondered how deep it was though and didnt fancy getting stuck. If you pass springwood haven on the weekend then give me a wave, plan to moor up outside for a few days in a peaceful spot!
  7. today/tomorrow this way. Marston junction can be dodgy also, was stood chatting a fellow boater the other week, he was moored right on the junction and three lads came up and started throwing stones at his boat after some abuse.. he had to call the police..
  8. as a Nuneaton lad I can only apologise for the yobs, the bridge you mention is hill top I think, which breads yobs! be cautious mooring between there and Marston, I had some locals kicking the side of mine there, schools don't go back till Thursday I think!
  9. You will be following the railway for some time now, as cuthound says aim for the stretch between locks ten and nine, the railway moves away here, moor in atherstone at the top of the locks then walk back and up the bridge and turn left for town, then left again for supermarkets, or right at the bridge for a small shop and chip shop. After that i would aim for the straight wider section just before bridge 36A, nice vista over the open fields, mooring near spring haven marina is very peaceful also as no roads for a good distance.,
  10. I fuelled up here over the summer, had a laugh with the big fella and he gave some tips on jobs i need to do, did 100% at domestic also. Would use again no problem.
  11. Its very anti CRT.... I agree with the marina owner, sort out the piss takers, but its his choice of words. And i now need to change my licence so a special 'continues cruising' one...
  12. Nice one! A stroke of luck bought my dream of living aboard forward also!
  13. Dont think he likes boaters without a home mooring... http://www.thefloater.org/floater-august-2017/marina-owners-hatred-of-continuous-cruisers
  14. Yep, you can see the footbridge and pumphouse behind.

  16. Not seen it since last time at Trinity, been into the marina a couple of times also for pump outs and not noticed it, but then it could have moved deeper into the marina, last time it was on the towpath moorings outside the pub.
  17. I went past last year on the sunday, about lunchtime i think, managed to moor right outside on the tow path side, i recall the pilings run for a good distance before and after the marina so you should have no problems.

  19. If you use Bosworth marina beware of the wind, if its up then you would be best to wait till no boats are on the service pontoon then head straight for it and moor on open side, dont try and get onto the other side, between the pontoons, wind will play havoc! Not sure what split they let you do there as only used it once and went 60/40. Trinity marina will let you decide what split, even 100%. I didn't know Ashby boats sold diesel, knew they did pump outs, think its about £15 or £18 with blue.
  20. Pain in the arse there, that photo doesnt really show how bad it can be sometimes, i moored my boat on the towpath side, just up from the yard and they shifted up towards cat gallows bridge so they could put another boat there... This made me smile though.
  21. Yes that looks like one Ray, i think they used to be moored at the top of Atherstone flight some years ago?
  22. There used to be an old boat at mancetter, on the coventry canal, im sure most who have passed have noticed it, moored on the bend, old working boat with steel covers all the way down, no engine and sitting high in the water. It vanished some time ago and i spotted something on facebook saying it was going for restoration, just wondering if anyone knows anymore really, used to dream of converting it every time i passed.
  23. Seen the coventrian Saturday heading towards hawkesbury, it was back in the basin on sunday, is the owner a user on here?
