  1. Did she spend time working on a fuel boat last summer though, im sure she is fully aware of the life ahead.
  2. Dropping some dye into the canal would put an end to the discussion surely..
  3. I moored in Coventry basin a few years ago, a boat came in and was heading into the arm on the right, steerer shouted 'Oxford this way' and pointed ahead. She looked sheepish when having to wind and head back the way she had come.

  5. Yup, seems the worse part was around the area of the Signal box pub when i went down a few weeks ago.
  6. There is a boat that that cleans up on the cov, Panther i think its called.

  9. To be fair this year the Nuneaton stretch has been cleaner than previous years, i passed through early Saturday morning. The usual spots around cock and bear winding hole and back of Judkins were not great though.
  10. I wonder if the person who checked the five and half actually walked it with eyes open!
  11. ooooo another boat vlog, how have i managed to miss this one, its not like there is an abundance of them on Youtube.
  12. They put a lovely one up on the outskirts of Nuneaton, the worst place to spend money on anything, it got burnt and spray painted over in days, another waste of money.
  13. Nice new blue sign next to lock 6 on the Atherstone flight, points towards lock 5, says 'Atherstone Locks - 5 Mins' Handy that as I was wondering where the flight was.
  14. If you crack it open there is a little rolled up treasure map inside, telling you the location of one eyed willies lost ship, full of booty! arrgghh!
  15. They were loading that lot up on the vans Thursday afternoon when i used the services at Grendon, nice to see a quick fix, but is it another plaster applied? Lock 17 on the T&M has a ratchet strap wrapped it to keep it together, been like it for three months, lock 14 on the T&M is leaking badly from the top gate, you can see why when you open the top paddles, boats get pulled in that fast you cant stop so hit the gate, unless of course you open the paddles one click at a time. Maybe instead of signs telling everyone apart from boaters that its great by water, they could put some simple signs up at certain locks telling people the way the lock reacts, its ok if you have been through it before, but for first timers its always difficult to judge a lock.
  16. And of course locks 8-9 are dreadful still, leaking badly from all gates and draining the pounds. Been like it for near two years. £45m being spent to keep towpaths open for walkers/cyclists and other non boating stuff i ready today. Life's better by water though.
  17. Glad we went down last friday now... It keeps swaying open that one and seems to drop when you get near to closing, wonder if that has anything to do with it..
  18. That's good then, its fine if you only spend a night or two down the end, but two weeks and your rubbish starts stinking this time of year! Not sure using the council rubbish bins are a good idea, not the ones in the compound, the littler ones.
  19. There are no rubbish bins now at the basin, Hawkesbury is your only option. Crazy!
  20. That's because you didn't film it!
  21. Fair play to them. But i always wonder why people feel the need to film such things, do your deed and get on with your day.
  22. Not sure they had the getsapo running the locks with limited hours 150 years ago...
  23. Just open a booking system on the web for the busy flights in summer months. Not really hard is it.
