  1. Cheers, I did search for it, must have missed it
  2. Does anyone know how this would sink and not be valid for insurance cover? Just curious https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/we-spent-house-deposit-narrowboat-28587997
  3. The article does make it clear that it was only the bit to Wardle Lock, but I still think it's a nicer name:)
  4. Saw this today, I think Wardle Canal sounds nicer https://www.middlewichdiary.co.uk/2021/12/the-wardle-canal-and-ici-works-in-winter.html
  5. https://www.marple.website/community-projects/the-wharf-marple-project.html
  6. There's been no significant rainfall for most of the summer, UU has sent emails out to customers over last few weeks warning of water shortages. Therefore, that wouldn't surprise me
  7. Just for clarification, I am me, myself and Benji on Team Peak on virtual Gracie, as I am shielding, & doing the 65k Virtual Challenge for Kidney Care UK at the same time. I reckon I can walk 2100 steps a day around my garden https://www.kidneycareuk.org/get-involved/challenge-events/kidney-care-uk-63-virtual-challenge/
  8. Eek renal brain can't comprehend that, just 2 dimensions is enough
  9. Brain surgery is generally at the higher level of elective surgery, being classed as semi urgent
  10. ?I'm in, a small team called "State of Gracie"
  11. The council decided that the AWCC would have a seperate nominated position. I stood as a Friend this time, the other candidate decided to stand down. My husband is quite poorly and I am still on my roller-coaster transplant journey, still rather more rolling than coasting. Its been long slow progress over the last five months. However, I am positive things will improve, albeit slowly and Benji (my kidney transplant) will begin to work properly. I do hope the new reps will report back, I did post to every FB group I was a member of, but there are approx 50 now, so if you never saw my council notes, I apologise, I do still have my page on FB & they are available there

  13. It might impact the Hire Companies, or Shared Boats on time limits
  14. Tangible positive outcome is governance of the Trust & why I wished to continue because, as with any large organisation, it takes time. The decision to open Customer Services later and at weekends was as a result of our meetings with the Customer Service team Apologies, it was on my phone, see above the quote, forgive me renal memory, also setting up the disabled boaters forum was instigated by reps, but influencing opinion of trustees on liveaboard boaters was the most tangible benefit. I hope to continue to support other volunteer reps. We were on a learning curve first two years, plus council needed updating.
  15. I take issue with your comment. I was a boaters rep last time, illness meant we had to move onto land last November and I am no longer a Boater. However the boater's reps managed to get significant changes, two reps were on the Appointments Committee & so influenced trustees appointed. We held meetings with various senior managers every quarter. I reported back, as did Andy Tidy, for meetings I attended. I hope the new reps will report back. I don't know if any have posted here at all. I am in the Friends constituency this time.
  16. Andy Tidy and I both reported back through Social media (mostly boating FB groups) , here & Andy has a blog, which he used to update boaters of meetings. There is no facility on the CRT website yet. As I explained, I am not standing but I hope at least one woman is elected. http://captainahabswaterytales.blogspot.com/?m=1

  18. OH good, well in that case I'd recommend both Andy and Phil as Phil was on the Appointment Committee Thank you, I did promise I would and if I get the Friends Nomination I will continue where I can. I hadn't applied because it was so soon after transplant and I was in and out of hospital for first eight weeks, but this is me yesterday after clinic out for lunch with my daughters
  19. Cruising Clubs are now a nominated member so Andrew Phasey is in that category. Vaughan Welch had stood twice, so could not stand again, the others were myself and Phil Prettyman. I no longer own a boat, due to my transplant and recovery. I can't speak for Phil although I know he felt he'd done enough.
  20. Hi,I agree about the number, but better than last time, it is pleasing to see so many engaging. There were only three nominations required which may be a contributory factor.
  21. The Trust has now published Private Boater Candidate information on the website. FYI, I am not standing as I had a kidney transplant, so due to that and my husband's illness, we've had to move onto land and sell our boat. Best of luck to all nominees & thanks to Tracey Clarke for highlighting this issue. I can recommend Andy, he has to stand as Private Boater as Roving Traders are included in the constituency. https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/about-us/how-we-are-run/the-council/results-of-nominations-private-boating
  22. Then the planning application for six houses resubmitted by CRT will make it even slower then
  23. First off, the Basin, Transhipment Shed, houses, Railway Station, then The aquaduct next to B&M/Tesco on the Bugsworth Arm would go, the next major structure is the A6 bridge, then the main viaduct carrying the Sheffield Line at New Mills, plus the two bridges over the Goyt in New Mills. (hence they're all closed). There is a command meeting at 11am but the BBC shared this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-derbyshire-49231384?__twitter_impression=true
  24. Thanks to Allan Richards for the following "As with C&RT's other assets, high risk reservoirs have the equivalent of Principal Inspections (at least every 10 years) and Annual Inspections every year. The difference is that these inspections are not carried out by C&RT staff because the Reservoir Act 1975 (as amended) stipulates that engineers from a panel are appointed. There is also third inspection which equates to C&RT's Length Inspections. This is called a Reservoir Surveillance Inspection (RSI). These are held once a week at least."
