  3. The black smoke comment was because they mainly seemed to go everywhere flat out! Often the rear fender was underwater!....they weren't loved and cared for by the hirers or the owners. And I'm not sure about getting out via a hatch above the doors either unless you are of a very thin athletic build! Cheers Gareth

I'm not sure they were blacked as often as they might have been...the ones I've seen lifted at Debdale didn't exactly have a lot of paint left on the hull....or anodes in a a few cases....they also seem not to go slowly anywhere...I've seen them regularly black smoking across the leicester summit. Cheers Gareth Edited to add. Due to the lack of bow doors you won't be able to get out in a narrow lock if for some reason the rear exit is blocked.....not a great design!
  6. When we put a 3000 series on a new build Alde were insistent it had to be a stainless calorifier. It's interesting about domestic units though. If I ever need to replace my Alde 2928 it would be much easier if copper was ok! I did wonder if copper on the engine cooling circuit might be an issue with a twin coil calorifier but never really got an answer. Cheers Gareth
  7. Just to check....is it a stainless calorifier? I don't think the new alde's are supposed to be linked to a copper one due to the Ali in the heat exchanger. There is quite s lot of info on the Alde website about how they should be connected. Cheers Gareth
  8. What about a flap valve? Less force to open than a standard NRV but still might be too much for a thermosyphon system. Cheers Gareth

Yep that's quite correct...means it charges at a reduced output....not really a problem if you are on a landline 24/7 but leaves a high capacity should you need it...it also has some other nice features such as independent charging of 3 banks. This isn't helping the OP though....sorry! Cheers Gareth
  10. My victron charger does that....and yes it's very annoying! I must admit I didnt think the combis did it...none of the customers I have fitted them for have commented on it. I checked with Victron and no one could say if it was a fault or not on the charger...I just swtich it off at night now.... Blue Sea have got a new charger coming out which does have a fan silence button....I'm very tempted! Cheers Gareth
  11. It might be something switching off...say a immersion heater or a charger going into float...which causes an overspeed...quite a few of the diesel units have over and under speed cut offs. Cheers Gareth

I the think the 12v in the link is wrong....if you look at other identical fittings they are all 240v....they are also meant to replace 28w tubes which is the next size up to those that were made by Marlec in 12/24v. The data sheet on your link doesn't mention voltage annoyingly. But all the references suggest it's for a 240v AC fittings...eg Engergy ratings etc I'm still looking for a 12v version although I'm not sure you are going to save much power if you want the same light intensity and spread as the Fluro tube version.   14. Well I You only have to go boating...you know as in move your boat...to see how quite a few places have now become "home" to CM'ers. We certainly experienced quite a few such places as we covered some 800 odd miles in the summer. Having lived aboard for the lat 20 odd years I feel that something needs to be done before some of the system is just a boat park. I have no problem with those that cruise but if you need to stay in one place then get a mooring....it's really quite simple! Cheers Gareth

  17. I would say that a well set up push pull system as per my pics is a joy to use...quick, easy....and a short travel. And a lot less to engineer or maintain.....you don't even knock ur head on a big wheel. Just my thoughts Cheers Gareth
  18. Blue sea do them too....more expensive but I like blue sea quality....their stuff is well designed....they are also going to do the usb outlets in White from early next year. Cheers Gareth
  19. This model can have the output reduced by a remote panel. It might also be set for the wrong battery type. I'm not sure if it can be connected to a laptop to change the settings which is the easiest way to check & change the setting. Have you got a manual for it? If not you can download from the victron website. Cheers Gareth
  20. I use a wet vac on the outlet hose….mind you my tank is on the base plate so the outlet hose is on the lowest point. Cheers Gareth
  21. This is the gear handle....there is a total travel of 14 inches..7 inches from neutral to ahead or astern This is the top of the linkage in the engine room The travel on the rod... The joint at the pivot point. This moves on a pivot and has a lock nut to stop it unscrewing. There is also a grease nipple. The brass bar slides up and down inside the black hex bar Hope that makes sense .....sorry for the large images...trying to do it in a hurry on an iPad & iphone! Ask if need more info Gareth

  24. Most of the Sterling kit is designed to a budget not a specification. If you search the web you will find the exact same product direct from the manufacturer at a lower price. Whilst no product from any manufacturer is 100% fault free in 100% of products I'm afraid I don't rate any of Mr Sterlings products. Cheers Gareth
