  1. Alan, my dear boy, I do not require a lesson in English lit. WHAT are you on... I mentioned it was half SUNK, leaning quite a bit, possibly bottomed out and just resting there HALF SUNK or just HALF VISIBLE. Oh by the way, I've just remembered it was on the right of the picture. Now go to bed and leave the glass where it is.
  2. Watched and quite enjoyed it. The tunnel sequence was great as I've never done that "yet". Did anyone notice a half sunken boat on the left of the screen during one of the shots, or was I dreaming it.......
  3. What the hell is a "Greenie". I've seen a lot of them flowing around but do not understand !!
  4. I am in full agreement with you Sas, some of his ideas have been great and idealistic to us narrowboaters but have not got anywhere. Doodlebug, if you are reading this keep going with your ideas and sometime you will crack a good one which could really help us !!!!
  5. Hi Sas, It's not that harsh really. If you search our "Doodlebug" he has come up with some basically good ideas and projects but none of which have come to any conclusion. I'm afraid his head is in the clouds and mind somewhere far, far away.
  6. The design software "Sketchup" could be a good arrow to your bow, but come on Walter "Mittey" how many of these wonderful ideas have come to fruition. Are you on the same planet as the rest of us ???
  7. I had to leave my boat for about 6 months during 2012 and when I came back both the canvas cratch cover and the pram cover were rather mouldy. I bought "astonish" cream cleaner with bleach from either Aldi, Idle or another one of those small corner shop/minimarkets for about 99p. It worked a treat. Spread the canvas out on the grass, doused it in water from a hose, scrubbed with a brush dipped in a bucket with this stuff in and the result was amazing. All green and brown gunk came off and left me with a nice dark blue finish that was the original colour of the canvas. Try it !!!
  8. Posting this on behalf of Wandering Snail. Have just met with them and they are very taken with Wendy Woo II. They are arranging a lift out and survey but, to my mind, they are going to purchase. Snail's computer battery was flat so they will post soon.
  9. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  10. I went for my monthly INR blood test the other day and the phlebotomist (nurse) said what a lovely smell I give off, all wood smoke. That was nice of her.
  11. I have my Minty, a Westie, to keep me company. Seems to like similar position to yours Loubyscooby. Sorry about the loss but get another one soon Southern Star.
  12. This one came with my boat and as far as I am aware it's the original. Great little stove but it takes about an hour or so to heat my 50 ft'er. Stays in well overnight with a mixture of Pureglow and logs. After a few hours from lighting, I end up in shorts and t shirt and the dog pants a lot. Great.
  13. Check out the link https://shop.coaguchek.com/buy?language=en As long as you have a good relationship with your local (as was) surgery, you can test yourself, call in the results and they can advise your dosage. This is what I do. Edit: Electronic transfer of your prescription to any pharmacy.
  14. I keep a full (gallon) plastic petrol container in the gas locker between gas bottles and secure it upright. I run my gennie on the bank or towpath to charge batteries/ use washing machine but run it until it runs out of petrol. I let it cool down then store it in the "back" cabin, which in my case is the area I use as an office but is INSIDE my narrowboat. Is this ok for the BSS?
  15. Apologies Cal, I forgot you have a GRP cruiser. My comments were directed towards the large metal top of a narrowboat.
  16. Hi Cal, We have frost on the cabin roof but the rest is clear thanks to the heating:) I think that you should want the reverse. Less frost on the outside of your boat means that the insulation isn't working and letting all the heat out to melt the frost. Being a building surveyor, I used to look at the roofs of houses and the ones with no snow or ice used to be the ones with no insulation ...
  17. Anyone with a photo of how a boat should look in the water or do differing boats sit in the water differently?
  18. I cannot even begin to think that, according to the original post, people would take "home" and possessions away and leave a person standing on the towpath with nowhere to go!!
  19. I thought that the dye in red diesel was for agricultural use only and white for family type vehicles, cars vans and the like. That's why people used to nick red diesel and filter the dye out to put in cars etc. Differing excise duty and tax and things !!!!
  20. Sorry Blackrose and Doghouse to start a "conversation" between you pair. I have found the answer after reading the thread about the unfortunate Man and Dog death. I should have realised that RTFM takes precedent but the link to the BSS site was actually quite informative. Thanks to all for information and guidance (and the link to Amazon. A couple now on order....... Daiboy
