  1. Usually I use the local fuel boat, about £27. Well I'm staying on my sister's boat atm & the gas just ran out, & the other bottle is empty too. So I just tried 3 different garages, the only 1 selling it wants £35! 13kg orange bottle
  2. Congratz. The quilt is overkill, would be ok on a 60' boat with the stove at the front. The torch is rubbish compared to what else it's out there for the same money. The drill won't be much good at only 12V & who buys NiCd stuff these days, should be lithium ion. Bucket way overpriced. What colour is it?
  3. Is that really a thing? CaRT take someone to court & then can somehow pick & choose who they (CaRT) allow to help Mr. Someone. How does that even work?
  4. Lol, this thread makes me want to go to Gifford Park & stay for a few days
  5. Bike goes in the well deck (no lockers). As for spiders, my youngest daughter was supposed to stay over a couple of nights ago, but about 11pm she changed her mind & got a taxi home cuz of the sliders!
  6. I saw 1 boat that was set up for both. Ingenious layout of the bathroom & doors meant it could be walkthrough, but the doors layout meant the toilet could be closed off leaving access to the shower, or the shower could be closed off leaving access to the toilet, & both could be closed off leaving a corridor
  7. Since it got mentioned I have now seem loads of these too
  8. Talking of only opening 1 gate, I thoroughly recommend opening both gates on lower Wellingborough lock, that stupid bridge on top of the gates almost ripped out my window frame, loadsa damage. Worst bloody lock on the system, & not just because of the gates
  9. Foxton locks, top to bottom. Worth mooring here overnight & going to the little pub, your head will hurt in the morning, lol Foxton bottom lock to Market Harborough. Includes heading in the opposite direction 1st to Debdale Wharf & using the pumpout... hey you did say you wanted it all
  10. Past the Welford arm junction to bridge 57 towards Foxton locks (I do the arm on the way back), includes a stop for some boaters gold! Bridge 57 to Foxton top lock & wait for my turn.
  11. I would like a bit longer than a week to do the Warwickshire ring. I did it in 2 weeks but I also have to add 3 days each way to get to it & back. I felt this was a bit rushed. It is lovely though & needs doing. Joe the Plumber makes an excellent suggestion, & i think I can find that reverse trip in several videos & time lapse mostly. Watford bottom lock to outside Crick marina, includes the staircase fight & Crick tunnel Crick Marina to almost the Welford Arm junction (This might take a while as I'm doing it from my phone)
  12. The wonderfully satisfying non stop thump thump thump from 7am to 7pm of 3 pile drivers on the building site next door, 5 days per week, throughout the whole of last year, & most of this year, measured at 76db by sticking my phone out of the side hatch according to an app, which only finally stopped about 2 months ago! Bastards
  13. Try Bimble Solar http://www.bimblesolar.com Depends how much electric you want I guess, I have 660 watts on a narrowboat
  14. How about this, seen on the A836 in Scotland, near the turn for the Farr Bay Inn.
  15. I accidentally opened my yale lock without keys when I didnt think it was locked. All I did was give the sliding hatch a shove & the lock popped open, no damage.
  16. I'd love to meet the OP on the tow path, hell I'd even go & buy some lycra to wear especially for the event, safe in the knowledge that he is going to deliberately get in the way even when there is no need to, & safe in the knowledge that he is going to launch an unprovoked assault with the potential to cause death by drowning. What is amazing to me is how the vast majority on here seem to approve of his way of thinking. The other thing that amazes me is where you find all these bad cyclists, because in my experience the vast majority of cyclists are well behaved. I've yet to come across a bad one on the towpath, I did experience one on the roads who blasted through a red light & crashed in to me & then started shouting at me for getting in his way. But then I've only experienced 3 grumpy fishermen. 1 was in a competition where everybody else got their rods out of the way except for this 1 guy & he had seen me coming along on my boat, he didnt move his rod but he did lose his tackle. The next was a guy fishing from a lock landing in closed season stood in front of a no fishing sign, who got the ache when I pulled up to use the lock landing. The 3rd grumpy fisherman didnt like me faffing about backwards & forwards in front of him, but I pointed out to him I was trying to get alongside the fuel boat in order to fill up with diesel, he just sat their shaking his head giving me filthy looks & eventually moved to a different spot.
  17. I made these solar panels to tilt, but I always leave them flat now. Trouble is the water pools on them & when it evaporates it leaves behind all the muck. So now I have them slightly tilted, doesn't interfere with cruising (i.e.I don't need to move them) & most of the rain & muck runs off, leaving only a bit of dirt down 1 edge = less cleaning.
  18. How about the Whale version of events (FW1214), everyone raves about the gulper waste pump, so is their freshwater pump any good? My Shurflo has also developed a leak in the same place as the OP's has done. http://www.elyboatchandlers.com/whale-water-pumps/whale-watermaster-pump-12l-30psi-fw1214
  19. Get lots of batteries. If you reduce to 1 lap top you'll be permanently charging it.
  20. 3rd day boating having just bought a NB having never been on 1 before, we met a boat at the kink, bang clatter clatter... I yelled oops sorry, dunno what they said just couldnt tell. Both boats went bouncing off the opposite walls... Glad it was dark!
  21. I knew it was mine because it was so unique. I had 1 photo of a partial bike this 1, & another photo of a different bike with common unique modified parts, & I knew way too may details that simply weren't in the ebay photos. & no it wasnt insured. I reckon the guy selling it was the 1 who stole it, & IMO he got too many comments from using it at the time & has been sat in his shed ever since.
  22. Video. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEbtETsWfJ0KLd0L-T7CiheRr01hblI5L Peterborough Embankment to Northampton Marina, River Nene (upstream), on Narrowboat "On Schedule!". Mostly time lapse x15 but includes a 30 min real time clip leaving Overton Lake (Ferry Meadows). This is a Youtube playlist, consisting of 8 separate videos, all 1080p HD, & no sound, except the real time clip leaving Overton lake which does have sound. No video is longer than 30 minutes. Total run time 2 1/2 hours. There is a link to each of the 8 vids in the description. (For anyone who has been following this there is nothing new here, it's the same videos I've already shared on FB Friends of the River Nene, the last 2 of which were uploaded yesterday Saturday 2nd July, & what I just posted to Canal & Rivers UK also FB)
