  1. thanks for posting the link to your trip, brill
  2. It's the boats which bring the vibrancy, the colour, the movement that make the Waterways a unique national resource, and IWA's seventeen thousand members include many boaters - some of whom own boats just some own boats !!!! sorry NO way any iwa person gets my vote
  3. i can remember a year or two ago on the trent and mersey canal near mercia marina. a boat was approaching a bridge and saw a tractor about to cross it and for some reason he decided to hang back, good job he did as the bridge collapsed. canal was closed for abit until it was cleared and it was rebuilt some time afterwards. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/derbyshire/8510898.stm dos'nt bear thinking about clive
  4. agree with martin and how many times has she got to say sorry ? some of you on here just have to keep on nit picking on someones post dissecting every word.get a life happy new year to ya all waggers/clive
  5. they do employ their own engineers but also use contract "engineers"
  6. maybe he is just selling you the boat and keeping the mooring
  7. great photo's, thanks for posting them
  8. they did a couple of jobs for me on my boat when i was at mercia marina. the service was brilliant and the work standard 100% if i was going to have a new boat built it would be with them waggers/clive
  9. the top cup is not bonded to the rubber mount, just clamped by a nut underneath and one on top. i was getting alot of vibration at tickover and the two "engineers" could not adjust the tickover at vetus recommended speed so adjusted it to 975 ish to smooth it out. which is quite fast especially when entering locks. never once did they check the mounts !! i do not think that they were really set up right from day one from what i found on removing the old one's and setting up the new ones. now the engine ticks over at 860 and is not vibrating at all. waggers/clive
  10. i changed all 4 engine mounts on sunday, apart from the front r/h the front l/h was in very poor condition and the others weak. it's only because of this site that i checked the lower mount nuts and found the front right hand one loose. well pleased now, shame the rcr engineer and the other "engineer" from pitstone did'nt notice it at the beginning of the year when i had the free inspection followed by the gearbox changed. i drilled the nuts before fitting and have wire locked them to stop them coming undone again,as we do on aircraft. thanks waggers/clive
  11. new engine mounts ordered, while on the phone to kings lock chandlery i ask him about replacement steel rear engine support legs. he answered that they no longer make/supply them as it was just a bad batch from vetus at the time. waggers/clive
  12. thanks for that dave will get 4 ordered tomorrow. engine has done less than 300 hrs so guess they were not installed correctly to start with ! waggers/clive
  13. would anyone know what type of engine mounts vetus would have supplied with a 4.17 installation ? k50 or k75 ? found that my front r/h one is knackered. just change that one or the pair of front ones ? thanks waggers/clive
  14. when i registered my new boat 3 years ago i thought that after what the licence cost that i would have received a key alongwith the license plates, wrong. so i bought one off ebay as it was easier at the time and its worked ok since waggers/clive

    Marinas

yes it opened last year around may time i moved onto the marina in july last year from mercia marina and the mooring fees are about the same and it is secure with your own key to get onto the pontoons. each boat has it's own water and elect supply and wi-fi is included in the fees, it's kept clean and tidy alongwith the toilet and showers and paul who looks after the marina is very helpful and friendly as is his wife and other moorers there. it can get windy but it's never stopped me getting out when i want to, unless a wide beam decides to moor across from you while he does some diy the food and drinks in the pub there are very poor which is a shame but there are other places close by which are good. i noticed in the listed stoppages that there building a new 40 boat marina between grove lock and bridge 114, mentmore wharf 2 marina (jan to march ) hope this helps waggers/clive
  17. thanks for your info mayalid, could you please give a link to those steel rear engine legs as i cannot find them on that site thanks waggers/clive
  18. as my marina do. 10p per unit and 55p per day or £1-10 a week or £10 a month. the house keeper of the marina is very good in as far as only charging the pro rata rate to the actual units you use, so that if i only use a couple of units it's plus 55p. but at the end of the day i've actually paid more for being connected at this marina when i do in the last 13 months then i was in the 18 months at mercia marina being permantly connected using pre paid cards waggers
  19. hi, after picking up my boat from a builder the first time i had a shower it was pulsing and i thought water tank maybe getting empty ! filled it up and still the same so after checking around told builder who came and fitted an accumulator. still no fix and he could'nt figure it out. after a few weeks i found an inline shutoff valve tucked away at the back of the sink that was closed ! screwdriver out and fully opened now get a great shower. like you all the other taps worked ok. maybe of some help waggers/clive
  20. i could'nt agree more. learn to moor up using springs which i learnt from a "boring blog" and i don'nt care how fast other boaters go past now. just chill out and enjoy your time on the water and your boat.
  21. maybe of some help, while i'm crusing i turn my fridge up to 3, then when i moor up and turn the engine off i turn it down to 1. in the morning my batteries are still showing 75% soc (thats with running a tv and lights etc during the evening )and the fridge is still nice and cold. when i forget to turn fridge down to 1 the battery soc can be 50% or less in the morning! just my experience and a tip i read about regards waggers/clive
