  1. That's not much less than the WINDOWLESS flats someone's recently got planning permission to convert in Watford. (actually 18 Sq M opening directly onto a busy service road with no pavement.
  2. I staggered mine according to appliances etc.. Were I to do it again I would have them down the centre. Why? Because when I 'stagger' down the roof in locks (single handed in my 70s ) they get in the way ?
  3. Saw a hire company sort the problem a couple of years ago. Guy turned up with a ladder and a pair of chest waders. 5 minutes, job sorted. Impressed.
  4. And ants. It's where London Zoo used collect their exhibits from . At least, it was when I was last there.
  5. After my wife died some years ago I fielded many such calls. Not once did I get the 'human' response "sorry". In the end I just hung up without comment.
  6. More or less what I might do. Greatest concern being that the skeg/ rudder blade below the cill. Mind you, I did once catch the skeg on a cill ? My own stupid mistake caused by my allowing my attention to be distracted.

  8. Misunderstood.. Happens I have a 'day tank' for bog. Wanted drinking water and bog water seperated as far as possible. OTT maybe but after I realised that both were served by the same source with common piping I couldn't enjoy either a cup of tea or a shower.
  9. As much as you're prepared to pay
  10. A very quick google of "BSP thread sizes" will explain fully how to identify sizes. I found the answer within seconds. Tried to provide link but am on tablet and I can't hack it.

  12. Looked at the second photo and you may be right. Anyway, passing that way tomorrow so will check.
  13. Sorry but peace and quiet is far more civilized. The world seems obsessed with 'communications' And who said that canals and boating should be easy?
  14. I agree. A few agreed hand signals are far more effective (and don't need recharging)
  15. Don't think the pub is the Coy Carp (previously the Fisheries) where my first thoughts of owning a NB were kindled one afternoon whilst recovering from a broken ankle. I can see why you may think it's a view from the car park side. I'll be passing it tomorrow afternoon so I'll look at it with fresh eyes. Think you're right about Copper Mill Lock
  16. What about 'The Bargee' with Harry H Corbet and Ronnie Barker ? A number of locations on the southern GU. Slough Arm, Black Jacks, towpath below Stockers etc, etc, etc

  18. So what Nett profit (the only one that counts) did they make from you over and above the Nett profit from your neighbor? I suspect little.
  19. I suspect not absolutely correct. Electricity cannot be sold at a profit. They can charge a service charge for the infrastructure. Equally the profit they made on your gas purchases was the difference between wholesale and retail cost. they also had to pay staff costs.
  20. Or drop it in the water. Did I see the OP in a canalside lock the other day? Man and his partner walk into pub, buy drink, sit down then spend the next hour staring at their phone screens. Sad or what?
  21. Sorry??? I saw it a couple of times between Braunston and Napton a couple of months ago.
