dave moore
David recorded his version on a BBC album called , I think, Narrowboats....a collection of his Canal songs mixed with the reminiscences of working boaters ....released in the 60s, possibly 67. Hardworking Boatman was inspired by Ewan McColls song Champion at Keeping them Rolling, written about the life and times of truck drivers.
David Schweizer
Dave is correct, the LP "Narrow Boats" was issued by the BBC in 1969, and includes "Hard Working Boater" sung by David Blagrove, but the recording on the site posted above is not actually David singing. If you are stuck for a copy, PM me. Edited February 25, 2018 by David Schweizer

Tonka
I think you are after the vinyl album "Straight from the tunnels' mouth". Without going up in the loft I cannot tell you who published it or when.
Derek R.
Sorry Paul, that's not David singing in that link. It attributes it as David's song, but not him singing. It's David singing in the Renfrew & Lucy link through Youtube, but it's "The working boatman's way" not "A Hard working boatman". It's about, I'll have another look. Paul H
Sorry I should have explained it better. Don’t click on the song title. Click on “Side 1” on the left hand menu, then you get the real David, Paul

Listen to "The Auld Ways Are Changing" in 'The Travelling People', sung by the Watersons amongst this link: https://mainlynorfolk.info/folk/records/radioballads.html I have "Singing the Fishing", and McColl's tunes I'm sure can be recognised in many of the ballads, and are not disimilar to David's songs.
