Jeez....

How dull can threads on here get!!!!

Yes.

The problem is that the question only has one of two answers and they are based on actual actions rather than theories ......there fore nothing to argue about. Now if Mr Oss had asked what temp is it best to light a fire, then we could be cookin'. By the way, do Ecofans work?

Then try livening things up with one of your own Mike.

I read the op was just a light hearted enquiry given the bad weather.

Dr Bob seems to have grasped my point.

I posted to turn it into a 'meta-discussion', and it seems to have worked!

I thought the same when I read the thread title beginning "Interesting Pulley" - but in fact that has led to a truly interesting and informative discussion. Book, cover etc.

Lit our stove one evening in July after a cruise on a particularly cold, wet and windy day on the Ashby. Moored up early to dry out and warm up. But only lit it once.

We had our heating on a lot in July to dry out whilst we were in Scotland!!

It's a little reminiscent of Schrödinger's pussy...

If you don't have one then no.

If you do have one then they send a stream of super-heated air the length of a 70ft boat.

...but how does Schrodinger's pussy get the air to circulate down to the other end of the boat? I knew he was into Waves but didnt know he had an air blowing pussy.

....I'm beginning to lose the will to live. What has a Bell got to do with lighting fires. This is the thread about fires is it ......or was that the other one!

Its really quite simple Doctor Bob.When you ring the bell, the butler lights the fire (or starts salivating)

I never wanted to start a thread, I just wanted a poll!  I'm enjoying the chaos though!

If you want a Pole into Chaos theory,Benoit Mandelbrot is your man. Schrodinger was Austrian and Pavlov a Russian.
