Recommend me an injection pump repairer?

Fennel

Featured Posts

My engine is out of action as both the springs in my injection pump have snapped - I need to find a reputable company to whom I can send the pump to have these replaced and probably the whole thing serviced in case there's anything else up with it.

Can anyone make any recommendations? I have been in touch with the engine manufacturer's UK representatives and they've messed me about to the point where I don't trust them any more.

Many thanks and as usual apologies if this is in the wrong place!

First of all how about giving us some way of identifying the likely pump because if its some rare Indian or Far Eastern thing parts may be very difficult.

Then how about giving us some idea of location because most major towns have such people serving the local motor trade.

Its not a lot of pint in me saying Thames valley Electro-diesel in Hyperion Way Reading if you are in Manchester..

It might be helpful if you could tell us which engine make and model, and roughly where you are. A reputable repairer may be very near, if you are lucky.

Eta as this question has already been asked

To go slightly off topic. I am wondering how Fennel knows two springs in the injector pump have broken. Normally injector pumps are not the sort of thing a reputable engineer would readily strip on site because of the dirt issue although they may try it as a get you home repair. Some one without knowledge should certainly never take one apart.

Possibly it something like a air cooled Lister with separate pumps and a misaligned control rack that someone has misdiagnosed as broken springs.

My be these two springs are the throttle and stop return springs on something like a BMC 1.5 and if so all that is required is a decent iron mongers to get new ones.

More info and we might be able to save you some money.

Cheers folks, I will give some of these a try. I'm afraid I left off the make in case what I'd said about their dealer (there is only one) counted as libel/slander. Can never remember which of those is which.

I know they're broken because I have someone here who is qualified to investigate such devices in a clean and safe manner. The plan was that he would repair it again afterwards but as it seems impossible to source new springs that idea has rather fallen by the wayside.

Ta again

Unless this is a very strange engine I simply do not believe the springs can not be sourced. I bet Richard could source them or knows someone who can when he is over his operation (RLWP)

I'd pass it onto my specialist - they never bother me with silly statements about run of the mill stuff

How esoteric is this bit of equipment?

Richard
