I live five miles or so along the river from there. I'll keep my eyes open. Nothing is getting very far very fast around here as the dredging work is still going on.

That's a strange choice of accompanying photo by the Cambs Times; two PCSOs following someone with a shopping trolley towards a shop. Is that person a suspect, about to stock up on groceries for a boat trip? And why the crazy Batman-style angle, was the photographer trying to convey a sense of movement?

Can anyone supply a photo or other details of the boat which might enable someone on here to spot it?

I thought the same. Perhaps a photo of the boat might have been helpful. We know what assistant cops look like.

Marmont PrioryLock is closed until 21st March so that route is closed, Only way out is through Stanground.

The boat is a Mayland 20 with a white hull and aqua blue cabin with a dark blue cockpit cover. Fitted with a 15hp outboard.

They're not big boats are they, so if the thieves were professionals not just some group of yobs, the boat was probably craned or trailered out soon after being stolen, and miles away by now with its name painted out?

In the absence of a mugshot of the actual boat, here are a few Mayland boats:

So he won't be coming past our garden - but he could still turn left before getting to Marmont Priory lock.

.................... the boat was probably craned or trailered out .............

Remove the outboard, get it into the mouth of a slip and four blokes with two lengths of rope slung under the keel could lift it out and shove it in the back of a van.

A mayland 16 when new weighed around 450kg dry (without outboard etc) a 20 that's been sat in the water with an outboard and a bit of gear onboard will make 4 blokes puff ;)

I hope the bastards are caught, There are a few stoppages on the Nene for lock maintenance, but that said, there are plenty of places to hide out of view.

There are no public slips to speak of (not sure if Peterborough embankment slip has been reopened) so shady slipping not really an option.

Nice choice of tow car ;)

It's been a superb car. 4x4 with the correct 1.8 tsi petrol under the bonnet. A switchable revo map makes it a car for all occasions too.

Can't find anything to replace it at sensible money so odds on its a keeper.

That shot was taken in November 2013, on its winter wheels - It didn't come with poverty spec wheels :)

It's a useful SE plus spec so enough bells and whistles to not feel like we are driving in the dark ages.
