Was the postcard used? If so the postmark would be a big clue.

I don't believe Braunston would ever have looked like the postcard, and while MJG's photo might be the same place it's inconclusive. There must be quite a few places with roughly the same layout as the postcard, where the bridge on the right will often be over a weir channel.

I compared the positioning of the buildings too. Barely visible in the photo I linked to due to the growth of the trees. but I felt they matched their positions in the postcard. Plus the profile of the left hand bank matched very well to me.

 

I didn't discount because of the (hideous) concrete bridge because Iron structures like the one in the postcard often got replaced due to wear, tear and corrosion.

Ray that's t'other end of the Brent - the outfall if you like. The postcard is the incoming Brent.

 

The Brent is a stenchy horrible watercourse composed mainly of NW London Road run off.
