Tools for a live aboard?

I have two questions please?

As a live aboard with limited space what would be considered essential but adequate tools for looking after your own boat?

I've got too many tools!

2. Where is a good place to securely store them on a cruiser stern?

Thanks.

What are your skills?

Keep tools for those skills.

Keep them where you know where they are!

Service tools, spanners that fit,(modern engine = metric, older may be Whitworth) selection of screwdrivers, multi-meter(including DC clamp) if you don't know how to use it, learn as it will be the main diagnostic tool for all electrical faults!

Sharp knife, and small saw.

Ball of string. (tie to all tools used down weed hatch!)

Strong magnet on rope. (will be need if you don't do the above.)

I know this seems like the "dark arts" to lots but there are some cracking youtube vids out there now showing you how to use one....

Corkscrew...with attached lanyard.

Large magnet...for retrieval of any corkscrew that doesn't have a lanyard.

Floating corkscrew and a multi-tool in the place you used to keep the large magnet. Don't forget to transfer the lanyard to the multi-tool!
