Weed hatch seal what should I use

Hi the surveyor has recommended that I fit a seal around the weed hatch. There has never been a seal on it and never had any water coming in, however, I want to get things right.

 

What seal will do the job please?

I use sheet close cell foamy stuff. I found it works better than just the strip.

It's not a requirement and what ain't broke don't need fixing.

Thanks for your replies and although not "broke" it is the insurance company who wanted the survey done. So not sure if they might insist so just as well et it done. Appreciate the help.

I use poundland yoga/exercise mats, just cut a piece to suit. Piece that's on at this time has been off and on a few times so is lasting well.

I use approx 5mm thick neoprene gasket cut from a full sheet so that there are no joins.

 

This avoids leaks at corners and is very durable (should last indefinitely)

Self adhesive neoprene strip off ebay. ( if the joins leak you should cut it more carefully )

 

Midland swindlers is about 2 or 3 times the price for the same thing.
