CaptainBirdseye
Were thinking about spending the winter up there, going on their hard standing, and doing some maintaince, anyone know what its like there, looking on Google maps its in the middle of nowhere, are there any village shops nearby ? And is there a good relaxed atmosphere in there ?
MaryP
I had work done there once, and really liked it. The boat was only there for a couple of weeks though.
frangar
I have moored there since 1998. I love the fact it's in middle of nowhere! You do need a car as there isn't any shops or transport locally. The atmosphere suits us but it might not everyone. I think of it as a good working yard with moorings rather than a pretty marina. Your best bet is to look for yourself. I reckon you are hard pressed to find a yard with better facilities for having work done in your boat. Burgiesburnin
The facilities look really good on the website. Looks like the kind of place I would be happy to winter. Not sure about the Missus though.
Tuscan
Our boat is moored there, there is a good community and it's a working yard with moorings which is good. Lots of boats on hard standing being worked on. Beer 20-30 minute walk down the towpath to Foxton or Gumley. If you have a car shops nearby at Kibworth or Market Harborough a bit further. Kwacker
We have moored there since 2011 and love it! Excellent (ever improving) facilities and operated by people who know how. Kibworth Harcourt is the nearest place for decent shops, take-aways etc. Edited September 12, 2014 by Kwacker
matty40s
Every time I have had dealings with the yard staff or office, they have been excellent.i haven't heard of anyone who has had substandard work done, and any work I have seen on any boat has been to a very good standard. I delivered a boat there in January which had a leak from the stern gear, the boat was lifted out within 30 minutes of me arriving and reporting it. bottle
Boat was launched there five years ago, been back ever other year for blacking, always an excellent job. This time the job is guaranteed for ten years, I'll let you know. ps the people that own/run the place are hands on.
ditchcrawler
We were stuck there in the ice waiting for a repaint and found it fine. There diesel use to be the cheapest in the area and I expect it still is.
