Moored at perivale and with an alarming amount of diesel spilling from the stern. Caused a huge slick. Maybe the owner wants to get down to check there isn't something seriously amiss?

I would imagine it has been like that for a while. I came though Perivale on Saturday and there was a film of fuel over the water for about half a mile. I tried to see where it was coming from but couldn't trace it.

I haven't seen the boat but It could be the rudder tube which often runs through the fuel tank on many boats. The tube can rust through allowing a water, fuel exchange to and from the tank into the canal.

Could be far simpler, automatic bilge pump & a diesel leak somewhere in the fuel line.

As so this time of the year I have seen it come out of the tank vent. Fill the tank brim full in November at 5° and when it gets up to 12° it has to go somewhere.

That one tooke a minute this morning!

 

Seems to have cleared up now. Stunk like a petrol station yesterday. Either the tank is empty or the batteries for the bilge pump are flat.
