Water-pump 'died' over night?

Hi All, advice please before I start taking things apart.

My water pump was working fine at midnight last night, not pumped in the night etc, but not working this morning. Checked the reset, and tried taps and toilet.

Any ideas please?

If it's not the pump, then it is either a faulty connection, or a blown fuse. As John says, check first to see if power is getting to the pump. If you don't have a multi-meter (they are cheap, and if you don't have one, you should) connect a 12V light bulb to the wires that feed the pump.

If the bulb fails to light, check fuses and wiring. If it lights up, order a new pump.

Let's hope it fails to light.

ETA: Add the switch to the wires and fuses.

Check everything as above posters have said. One tip though is that they do on occasion just pack in. I have a bits bin on my boat and always carry a new water pump with me. For what they cost its a small investment as a spare and they are a doddle to fit.

Just on lunch break so checked with the multimeter.

Got power, so guessing the pump.

Dont understand why just stopped over night- but guess needs a new pump.

Its a PAR-MAX4 25psi pump.

Replace with same or anyone advise better?

Hi

Our pump was a par max four initialy and I changed it to a par max One. Does the job precisely as well as the bigger model for a lot less money.

Probably the pressure switch. Just had this with a Gale Force Marine pump. Only about 10 hrs running on it, basically brand new - water has been getting into the switch which corroded.

Company sent a new pressure switch (good) but now that is fitted and leaking they have gone v quiet (bad).

I'd avoid that make. You get what you pay for.

Incidentally when I fitted a 7lpm shurflo the (brand new) morco pulsed and there obviously wasn't enough pressure for it. I then stripped and resealed my old 11lpm shurflo which is doing ok. Question - what really makes a morco happy? Pressure or (I presume) flow and what's the minimum?
