We are putting Taurus up for sale next week, we have long hankered for a historic boat, so we've decided to go for it!

Taurus is going on brokerage at Venetian Marina with Whilton, if you could spread the word I would be most grateful.

Lot's of pictures, info and history here Taurus

I would also be very grateful if anyone could let us know if any historic boats come up for sale, we don't mind waiting for the right one.

Thank you lovely people

Best of luck with the sale.

What are you looking for in an historic boat?

Thanks Liam, we will eventually be living aboard so an undercloth conversion would be nice but we will look at anything full length, don't mind work, don't mind elm bottom, don't mind wooden cabins :-) I was hoping for Juno but we've missed it.

I think Roy went for Juno in the end.

I'll keep my eyes and ears open for you :)

I'm very jealous of Roy, I've been watching that boat for 2 years and just as we get near it goes...such is life!

Good grief! - Have they finally managed to sell it!

Yes indeed they have :(

Of course "Hawkesbury" has been openly marketed for quite a while, but (even after several reductions) cheap it isn't!

EDIT:

Just been beaten to it.

There is also this, about which I know nothing.....

Station Boat "Jesmond"

Thank you, I love it but it's just a bit out of our price range...sadly! I like the idea of taking an unloved boat and nurturing it back to health.

Lynx will be for sale next year

I saw that in the HNBC mag but assumed it would have gone by now...I like it very much.

I've had a good look at that advert, we might go and see Jesmond when Taurus goes...mind you now that I've said that it will probably sell today!

I used to live in the real Jesmond.

It would be my lottery boat if I won I could employ a man to keep it afloat. lol

You would need a bilge pump wallah!

Yes, there's a reason it's been for sale for a long long time too!

I know I saw the pictures on here a couple of weeks ago, sad and sorry sight :-(

Ah but you have short boats, I seriously love them but sadly my OH doesn't.

I've done a search and I can't find them now... :help:

I was told a couple of weeks ago, by someone who was seriously interested, that it had been sold.

Tim

Well if we had an unlimited budget, plenty of time and more skills...mebbe.

Suddenly Ian doesn't look that bad after all.

I think Ian is just lovely, I know what you mean about the lottery win. If I won big (which isn't likely as I don't do it) I'd probably end up with a fleet.

Don't underestimate how much it will cost to bring and unloved and neglected historic boat back to health. If you want to buy an uncoverted ex-working boat, replace the elm bottom, renovate and straighten the hull, sort out the engine, add an undercloth conversion and then fit it all out, you'll find that it will cost about the same as Hawkesbury.
