Proper Job
I was hoping to get the prop re-pitched at Norris Marine (Isleworth) but have just found out that their 'prop man' is on a weeks holiday when the boats out of the water. Anyone got any other suggestions of where I might be able to get it done? Preferably no more than a couple of hours drive from Oxford please. Oh..... they have to be able to manage a 26" diameter

JDR
If it isn't too stupid a question, what is involved with re-pitching a prop? I would be particularly interested to know if you can modify an existing prop, particularly to a coarser pitch. or does it just refer to returning a prop to it's original condition? Proper Job
If it isn't too stupid a question, what is involved with re-pitching a prop? I would be particularly interested to know if you can modify an existing prop, particularly to a coarser pitch. or does it just refer to returning a prop to it's original condition? A crude description would be that you 'twist' the blades to increase/decrease the pitch. However, it's a little more involved than that as you have to make sure that the 'twist' is equal and in the same place on each blade. Something to be carried out by a specialist (in my opinion)
n.b.Goldie
Hi Steve, Try Clements Engineering in Bedford. They did a great job for me. Regards Andrew Just like to say thanks for the tip. Had my prop 'remanufactured' by Clements Engineering a couple of weeks ago and what a difference. No more vibration and the prop 'jet' is now stable. Well worth the £160 and much cheaper than a new prop. Cheers Redeye Regards Ditchdabbler

George Seward
I damaged a prop a few years ago and had to fit a second hand one. I kept the orignal, which I thought was Bu****ed and took it to crowthers in Oldham. They remanufactured it like new. I then swapped them over and had the spare repitched. Its kept as an emergency spare now. as with all these things, i'll probably never need it, but that's what a spare is for. its a 20 x 15, if anyone is desparate.should add it's often cheaper "up north"- about £100 cheaper. I can recommend Steel Developments too. I had badly bent all three blades and was charged £80 (18inch prop), it came back looking better than new and nicely balanced, it actually performed better than before.
