Moving boat

Featured Posts

Hi we are currently on the Rochdale canal between Rochdale and Manchester, we were hoping to take the boat to the bridge water canal ourselves but have run out of time due to issues on the Rochdale canal. Any recommendations for someone to sail her to the bridgewater.
thanks Duncan and Jayne.

I'm curious what issues you are having between Rochdale and Manchester. There are no stoppages listed on the CRT website. Although it is heavily locked, it's less than two days run from Rochdale to Castlefield and there are few places on this length where I would be willing to leave a boat unattended while waiting for a boat mover to be available.

If you must leave the boat, the only places I would consider would be above Slattocks or by the Irk aqueduct.

Hi yes we are at Slattocks now we where at the summit pub and a lone boater had came up through the locks and she hadn’t close them and drained the water in most of the lock so CRT had to refill them. then when we got to a couple of locks before Slattocks and it would not open so CRT sent someone to clear it out this morning and he said there where rocks from stopping the locks opening and they had had this issue before there.
