Hi folks, when ordering a Chinese diesel heater from eBay/Amazon does anyone know what needs to be swapped out to make it a compliant install with bss?

this model is what we’re thinking to install

Usually you need a marine exhaust and make sure any fuel hoses comply with the BSS (this ignores any RCD/RCR requirements).

Then make sure the cut-out voltage is a bit lower than for vehicle or static use, otherwise you may have starting problems in the mornings

Wouldn't it be connected to the leisure batteries so starter battery wouldn't be drained by running the heater...?

I think Tony was referring to starting the heater on the cabin battery after a night supplying fridges lights etc.

Having mucked about with these a fair bit a few years ago, the hard bit is achieving a suitably physically strong and gas-tight connection between the cast ally exhaust stub on the heater, and the exhaust tube. I've yet to find a clamp I consider suitably secure as the outlet stub is slightly tapered and whatever you use can generally be pulled off resonably easily even after furious tightening.

But in addition you'll need a skin fitting which costs almost as much as the heater, and new fuel hose to replace the polythene windscreen washer hose supplied with the unit for the diesel supply!

Installed a number of these, keep the heater unit it's self bin everything else.  Start by remaking positive and negative in the wiring loom with decent spec cable & decent connector.

Hot air pipe:

That's just a basic install, you'll also need some way to get the diesel out of the tank (usually a stand pipe), hot air pipe lagging and adaptors...
