matty40s Posted January 23 Report Share Posted January 23 The James Bentley Archive also refers to the Welton tunnel. I would think Braunston was a minor village with wharf on the Oxford canal, and only became an important junction when the GU joined....therefore the tunnel was named after the largest local village....Welton. Similarly, Norton Junction is a mile and a half from Norton Village , Buckby Wharf a mile and a half from Long Buckby. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
