Howdy.

I have a lister SR2 and I’m just about to start a fresh electrical install.
Some specs you may ask for

- lister SR2 + 12” pulley on flywheel

- Lucas lra100 alternator

-440ah batts (not lifepo4)

- 3kva victron inverter and all of the usual nonsense.

anyone completed a similar fit?
Any recommendations for alternator upgrade recommended? Pretty sure mine is banjaxed in any case with low v at 3/4 load.

thanks!

I’m going to be wiring up the whole boat, including the engine.

For the rest of the boat. Usual questions. How is it going to be used? Live on 365 days a year? Holidays in summer? In a marina with shore power, or towpath mooring without? How do you and any other users like to live when on board? All 21st century, with washing machine, hairdryer, freezer, big telly? If not, how primitive do you want to go? Once you've made that decision, do a power audit of what you intend installing. to give you the Ahrs each day that will be taken from the batteries and will need to be replaced.

it seems much nicer in here with proper advice, as opposed to social media!

Don't look at the Politics & Current Affairs section! 😱

Are you sure that the alternator is driven from the flywheel?  Most marine SR's have the flywheel at the back, enclosed  by the gearbox housing with the alternator driven off the camshaft.   That loses 50% of the speed  and makes it hard to drive a high output alternator. If you use a big pulley ratio, belt wrap is an issue and you may need a jockey wheel to get enough belt contact on the alternator.

On a single Z or A  section V-belt the best you can expect is to drive a 90 A alternator, and that will need really good wrap on  the alternator pulley.  If that is adequate look at  Lucas A127 as an alternator.  About £60 on the web.
